I am not surprised by the terrible reviews of this terrible restaurant. The ownership is to blame. In the 3/16/12 edition of the SF Chronicle, it was reported that a federal judge has ordered the owners to issue back pay of $404,000 for 32 workers for cheating them out of their rightful wages and overtime: The suit said the restaurant required waiters and waitresses to return their paychecks for nearly eight months, starting in September 2009, allowing them to keep only their tips. They worked between 60 and 72 hours per week but were not paid overtime for workweeks above 40 hours, the suit said. It said the restaurant also falsified employee records.
Bad owners = unhappy workers (chefs, wait staff, washers) = bad food + service = unhappy diners, some with food poisoning. I wouldn t want the workers to be without jobs if Crazy Buffet closes down or retaliates against the workers (which would a federal crime), but hopefully the food and service will improve.
The food here was terrible! The price was cheap but wasn't worth it. I rather spent a little more and be satisfied with the food! I wanted to give 1/2 star for the effort but unfortunately the system didn't have 1/2 star rating! :-(
If I could, I would like to rate them as no star! This is the worst of the worst buffet! I had a diarrhea after eating their baked oysters (actually, they were still raw when I eat them!) Food display was terrible! The Sashimi and Sushi area was totally a mess! No one was taking care of the raw fish area, the sliced fishes were just randomly placed on the plate, nothing was fresh! Steam fish has the rotten taste, cold dish and salad were also bad and unattractive! No ice-cream for dessert! Water downed lemonade, smells like detergents!
Just make it short, you can tell that they prepare the food with NO heart! They know to charge you money, but they don't put in their heart to make you feel you'd come back again! Too bad

I just returned from a HORRIBLE dinner at this place. After biting into a tart, I had to spit it out because it tasted sour and stale. After looking closely at it, I saw MOLD on the tart. I do not speak Chinese, but luckily, my friends do so they helped me talk to the cashier and cooks. In between talking to everyone, they would stop and translate for me.
When we told the cashier, he tried to tell us that they don't make the tarts and that they are delivered from an outside bakery. He also told us that this wasn't the first time that this happened. My friend asked when the tarts were delivered. He said they were delivered the previous day. Even if this were true, it takes DAYS for mold to develop. Also, they are also the ones serving the food, so it is their responsibility to maintain its quality. Also, if this isn't the first time that this has happened, why is it still happening?!!
The cashier then offered us a $2 discount from our $80-something meal (It costs $15 per person for dinner). He said that there was nothing that he could do. He said that we could call the health department or the police but we still had to pay for my meal. Who says that?
My friends and I told him that this wasn't good enough. He called some other guy over who said that he could only offer us a 50% ($7.50) discount off my meal. Then some other lady came by and tried telling my friend to try to persuade me to just pay for the meal. She gave my friend some bull about Chinese people having to stick together because it is so hard for Asians to make a living. Please, I'm Asian too, even though I don't speak Chinese. And is discounting a $15 meal seriously going to put them all on the streets? Come on, they give FREE meals to people on their birthdays. And they can't discount a meal to a customer that found MOLD in the food?!
We had to deal with them for almost half an hour before they agreed to deduct my meal cost. In the middle of all of this, some other man came by and complained that no one bussed his table the entire time he was eating. It was 8:00pm on a Thursday night! How did they not manage to clean this man's table?
Summary: BAD food and WORSE customer service. I am contacting the health department.
This is one of the first Asian Buffets we found when we moved into the area. We love the food and since I am allergic to msg we know this place does not use it. Great variety even for pizza and fries for the kids. Good value for the money. Friendly staff1
