Luomajärven Hevoskievari, Ikaalinen

There is an extremely interesting place only 65 km away from Tampere that lets its visitors get to know history in a fresh and unforgettable way. The staff at Luomajärvi Hostel still know how to farm using old, traditional methods with Finnish horses. The farm is open for groups. Many kinds of work displays are presented to the guests, for example on logging sites, collecting and drying hay or on making tar-depending on the season and the wishes of the group. During the winter it is also possible to get a romantic sleigh-ride in the snowy fields and forests. Accommodation is organized in former servants' quarters, a two-floor outer building or in a granary. Also meals can be arranged by advance booking. It is nice to have a walk or ride horses in the nature surrounding the farm. You can also pick wild berries and mushrooms in the forest. The Hostel organizes longer horse trekking trips, as well as guided tours that focus on a certain theme-for example a ty pical day in a Finnish peasant's life. There are also many kinds of theme evenings, such as a Cretan night. Festival and meeting services are available for ten to 500 people. Service is available in Finnish, English, Swedish, German, Italian and Greek.
