Restaurant eating should be a pleasant experience on all levels. I will say Hon has good sushi however the owner who makes sushi at the far left of the sushi bar is the epitome of a nasty restaurant owner... a sushi nazi if you will. I have been doing business in the area for over a month and have taken clients there on several occasions...never again. The owner has offended my clients 2 different times and he will not get the chance to do so again.
I have eaten here several times because it's so AWESOME! The restaurant ambiance is clean, relaxing & modern. The seating & service is prompt, the food is fresh, the staff is cheerful, welcoming & polite & they don't make you feel rushed. I randomly order take-out as well & the food is still hot & the portions are a bit more generous (salad & rice). It is reasonably priced too! This is a place where you can go totally casual & beachy or dressed up & glamorous, it's cool either way. I love Miko's in Carlsbad too but this is definitely *my favorite* sushi place in Oceanside!
my husband and i went to eat here on friday february 20th,decided to go cause i read all the good reviews,we usually go to love boat sushi in oceanside.
i ordered a terriaki chicken combo plate and my chicken was cold, the sushi chef kept coughing, the waiter brought us our miso soup instead of brining it on a tray,he carried it with his thumbs in the bowl, waitresses kept coughing into thier hands and then serving drinks.
by the time we left and 10 minuits into our ride home, our stomaches were cramping and my husband and i spent the rest of the night in the restroom, $65 bucks down the toilet !! we had cramps, diahrreah, and chills.
i will never ever go back here again !
love boat is the best !
I would recommend this place to anyone. Maybe a little biased since I have become a regular there and always get top notch service. But every time i take someone there for the first time they always have left happy from both the food and the service. A little note, if you go for lunch, 12pm - 3pm then you get a 4 dollar discount on the All-You-Can-Eat. plus the AYCE includes items like a tempura platter, miso soup, teriaki chicken bowls, various other non-sushi items. On the down side, if you have a group, and you sit at a table rather than the bar, you are only allowed to place an order twice. That coupled with their policy that if you leave any all you can eat behind you are forced to pay (I've never been charged for leaving a few pieces so i'm asuming it's if you leave like a whole roll behind) means you can have trouble gauging how much to order. With that said, I still love this place. GREAT FOOD A++++++
if you looking for agreat food hons is the place there sushi is always fresh it not like other sushi all you can eat were you see the food been sitting there for a while as you order thay make your food you can even eat all you can in the bar but you should eat it all. happy eating ;)
