Marina Chapelín
Description
This marina offers all quayside services: drinking water, radio, electricity, maintenance, repairs and fuel. There are two sailing ships, seven fishing yachts, and two yachts for excursions with overnight service on board and deep-sea trolling. There are motor boats available for trips through the keys. The most attractive excursion is perhaps the one to Cayo Blanco aboard a sailing ship with everything included: open bar, snorkelling, seafood lunch and free time to enjoy the key. From the hotel piers you can rent catamarans, sailing boats, kayaks or water-bikes.
The one week we spent in cuba was highlighted by our 6 hour fishing excursion
When we arrived by our hotel bus at 8am the marina was busy with other travel excursions for diving and sight seeing.
We were pointed down to four boats big bayliners comfortably took all 4 of us.The trip out to the ocean took 1/2 an hour and then we cruised around with four heavyrods
we landed a 40lb Wahoo in the first hour so I tipped our crew some # 8 and 10 hooks and 50lb fishing line From then on we were busy cathing 6 Barracuda and 6 tuna and one more wahoo. Every time we caught a fish I pulled a little something out for the guide from baseballs to fishing gear stuff I could never use here in BC. The only disappointment was while reeling in a tuna a shark took the fish and left me the head. The guide cooked up one of the tuna on the boat it was the Best meal We had in Cuba. We have some nice pics but dont know how to add them to this site .
