Northern Pagoda (Bei Ta), Shenyang

In ancient times, pagodas once rimmed Shenyang, but now, today, most are in various phases of disrepair. This pagoda (Beita), however, remains in remarkably healthy shape making it one of the area's better attractions. It exhibits a classic pyramidal tower form giving visitors a great look at ancient Chinese architecture. A small museum offers a limited display of photos and such, including a wow-look-at-that model of Shenyang when it was the centerpiece of the Qing dynasty.
