I frequent Dim Sum Garden on Pembina because it is perfect in every way. The atmosphere is alive with the hustle of busy servers and the chatter of regulars. Its what you'd expect a busy Hong Kong hole-in-the-wall place that serves irresistible food to be. No tacky Chinese decor, just one that says sit back and get down to business (eating everything). The service is always quick and friendly, and they always respond to Chinese cultural restaurant ques, like taking the lid off the tea pot for more hot water, or the double-tap on the table as a thank you; this only makes the Anthony Bourdain-esq experience that much better. THE FOOD! Always hot, fresh and spiced just right, the hot sizzling numbers jump off the plate. The deep fried orders always crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth inside. The Hot-Pots come steaming and with a broth so full of veggies, chili's, and spices you need a wooden spoon to stir. Recommended Dishes: The Deep Fried Squid is an authentic Calamari, no American style aoli's or sauces, just spiced with salt and cinnamon! The Hot Boiled Beef (can be ordered with fish) is a must for those who like it hot! RIDICULOUSLY hot using enough cloves and chili's to power an A-bomb. ** I always go with a friend. 3 shared dishes usually comes to around $25, and there's ALWAYS more than we can eat. GREAT VALUE!

i have been going to this place for years, the food is always great the service is great too, i read the other reviews and see that people are compaining about the service...it's dim sum...not high class dining, it's kinda like fast food, do you want them to put your napkin on your lap...the table clothes are plastic layers for fast clean up...also the servers may seem rude because a lot of them don't speak english and communicating with people who get frustrated eaisely ( you!!!) may be difficult. go somewhere else if you don't like it here and then there will always be a table for me to enjoy the authentic food and great time at this resturant

I have been here half a dozen times. I didnt find the servers to ignored me. Im white. in fact every 5 minutes someone is offering you something. the food has been good and hot almost every time. However my last trip my pork dumpling was not cooked in fact it was still dripping in blood. when I told the server, the server communicated this and the whole kitchen exploded. You should know that they did not apologize nor did they take care of my bill or discount it at all. They didnt seem to take it very seriously in terms of looking after me. I was very sick, and will never go back. across the street is noodle express, food is great and people are friendly and food/health and safety at least seems on the radar. as i have not been disapointed yet!

NUMBER 1... BEFORE YOU GO PAY, YOU SHOULD HAVE AN ESTIMATE OF WHAT YOUR BILL MIGHT BE LIKE. THEY ALWAYS OVERCHARGE. ALWAYS. THE SERVERS ARE RUDE AND COMMUNICATION IS JUST TERRIBLE. YOU'LL BE TRYING TO FLAG A SERVER DOWN AND THEY JUST IGNORE YOU. THE FOOD IS GREAT, ITS A SHAME THE SERVICE IS NOT.

service...what service..guess cause i'm white i don't exist! never seen such debotchery in my life! took forever to get any food...when we did it was like we were second class citizens...what does it take to get your water re-filled....I love dim sum but won't go back there again!

I've had dim sum in every corner of the world. I come to Winnipeg every year to enjoy the best dim sum in North America.

This is Winnipeg's best Dim Sum restaurant. The food is fresh and I drool just thinking about this restaurant. I better go there now, I am getting hungry.

i particularly love this restaurant for the fact that you are not bombarded with waitresses or servers but they have always served me and my friends and family with a smile even though we are not asian. it is a friendly place for a late morning meal. i can't wait to go back. i most heartidly suggest everyone give this one a chance

I have been going to this restaurant now for the past 3 years. The food is always excellent, the service (once they really get to know you) is amazing, and the value is outstanding. It's my once-a-week (at least) dim sum fix place.

We go probably more than we should. We love it. The chicken skewers are great. The happy hour price is amazing, best bang for your buck. There is great variety. And the best part is we see such a vast array of ethnicities in there enjoying the food at any given time. It is an amazingly popular place. Highly reccomend it.
