Keg Steakhouse and Bar (The), Winnipeg

the food was horrible will never go back. I had the prime rib dinner couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. They brought me another prime rib dinner this one was a thinner piece couldn't cut it either with a sharp steak knife. I didn't eat any supper except for a salad. It is also very over priced for what you get. There were lots of complaints about the food at our table.

We go to the Keg maybe twice a year with the family. Each time has been a pleasure. Our last outing was for dinner with just 3 of us. My Mother-in-law has had severe back pain for years, so we called ahead for seating. When we arrived the place was rocking, filled to capacity and a line up out the door. We went in and were greeted right away, and informed our table would be ready shortly. The attendant asked if we would like to wait in the lounge, we said we would. One look inside the lounge and she realized there was nowhere for us to sit. She spoke briefly to a server in the lounge, and within 2 minutes she managed to clear a small table for us. How she managed to do it, we'll never know. We ordered drinks, and just as we were finishing them our dinner table was ready. Our server led us to our table and seated us. We ordered our dinners, and maybe 20 minutes later our plates arrived. I just presumed we would be waiting for an hour for our food due to the amount of people in the restaurant. All our meals were cooked as we had ordered and tasted great. Our server was knowledgeable on the specials, and on what the different cuts of meat were. I have been to restaurant's were the server new the menu but had no idea what the different cuts of meat actually are. This can be a problem for those who are unsure as to what they are ordering. Anyway, we enjoyed a great meal, and were treated with excellent service. Although the prices seem to be a bit on the high side, with service like this it's worth every penny. Our kids got us a Keg gift certificate for Christmas, and I can't wait to go back.

Was surprised to read the bad reviews about tough steaks UNTIL I decided to treat my daughter to lunch today. The steaks were so tough that we didn't finish them. Extremely disappointed that I paid $64 for such a terrible meal. NEVER AGAIN! In these tough economic times, The Keg had better wake up! In the past we have always enjoyed our steak DINNERS at the Keg, but agree with others that it is way overpriced and because of this we usually only go once or twice a year. Today was the first time that we had gone at lunch. Since we hadn't been there in awhile, I don't know if LUNCHTIME was the problem, or if the overall quality of the food at The Keg has hit rock bottom.

My family and I have gone to The Keg on Garry St. Winnipeg, many times, for many special occasions including business staff appreciation dinners.we have always, had a good time, good food, and thank goodness, good service, the waiters/waitresses were right on and had good attitudes, we had them laughing to...more anniversaries and birthdays coming up so look out Keg here we come again...keep up the good food and good work

It was much too pricey. My steak was a little chewy. We waited forever and it was extremely noisy. Pretty good service though. The lounge might be better.

The Keg Steakhouse has always been a guaranteed winner when it comes to great food and a friendly atmosphere. They know exactly how to prepare a quality piece of steak, phenomenal filet, massive Keg Size New York, and for those medium rare fans, the Baseball Steak is a sure winner. (It's so thick,they can't cook it any more!) If you've never been, or aren't sure what you want, it's a perfect choice for everything!

AS A VISITOR FROM TORONTO, I heard nothing but good things about Winnipeg and it's food. Nothing could be further from the truth. The worst meals I have ever eaten were in Winnipeg. This Keg is no exception. Ok service, nice atmosphere, horrible rubbery food (lobster/steak). Seems to me, ignorance is bliss WINNIPEG!! I plan to eat cardboard and rubber bands the rest of my stay here.

The Keg was absolutly delicous. My kids also enjoied it. Its a place you can go if you want romance or just to go out with a few friends. I recomember supper at the Keg!

My first visit to Winnipeg and I overheard a conversation about this place. I had to give it a try. I'll be sure to go again on my next visit. The wait staff recommended the Prime Rib, and they were right on target!!! The dining room was full (on a Monday evening), so I sat at the bar. The classic rock theme provided a great atmosphere... not overbearing, but a great compliment to the food and drinks. Its not an inexpensive dinner, but you won't be disappointed.

Steak and prime rib were fabulous, too many onions with the steak, caesar salad had way too much dressing on it, but the rest of the meal was terrific. Service couldnt be better. And the steak mmmmmmm Did I mention the steak? Incredible flavour. Lobster was excellent as well. Desserts to die for!
