Star Grill, Winnipeg

The Star Grill catered our wedding on October 27th, 2012. The service was impecable. John was very knowledgable and helpful in planning the dinner and seating. Our guests loved the curried carrot ginger soup, the jack daniels mesquite bbq beef tenderloin, and the dessert. The plating was beautiful too! We chose the Star Grill to cater our wedding because we have eaten there many times and have never been dissapointed. The actual restaurant is smaller and fantastic for romantic dates but not as much for a large family gathering. The food is always great. The servers are wonderful, especially Ken. And always leave room for the desserts.

I am absoltely fuming about this Star Grill. Had tried to use them to cater a house party. Went down in person to place an order, John was too busy but did manage to send me an email raving about their menu. I emailed back what I wanted. After several days of no reply, I called John and he informed me they were short staffed and would call soon! I patiently waited. He never called! Good thing I smelled a rat early enough that I was able to order from someone else and save my party! RKA

i absolutely love it at star grill! its a like cramped and, always a line but, well worth it! The service is a little slow but, the waiters are really cute. a;so its a little pricey but THE FOOD! oh my god to die food. plus its vegan and vegetarian friendly!

The ambiance was nice and quaint. However the service was barely polite, VERY slow on refills, the food was adequate at best, the server forgot to bring me my coffee TWICE, and the topping on the cheesecake was clearly out of a can and congealed. It was way overpriced for the food and service. I read the earlier reviews and was disappointed. (I suppose it has been a long time since they were written though)

One of my favourite places. It is great in the summer to meet friends for lunch. I would recommend Star as a great place for a 1st date. Great food and service with an intimate atmosphere.

We went for dinner and the atmosphere is horrible - very cramped and dirty looking. The place needs a good cleaning.The food was a little pricy too. I would only go for breakfast in the summer when you can sit outside on the "patio" (which is just a table right on the sidewalk.) It is always very warm in the restaurant. I have been 3 times - two times for breakfast and once for dinner.

I loved it because the menu had things that you find in other restaurants, but all with a very unique twist. The ambiance was very unique and completely authentic and non-commercial or industrial looking. I love how small it is. You feel like you know something others don't by being there. It was definitely worth the time and money.

great food. made in desert. try brunch salmon eggs benedict. wow. not a bad time yet. bit small and cozy. ask for ken to serve you. great smooze.

The food is fabulous and the service is great - we always love to see Ken; Always a good value. The ambiance is unique and very cosy.
