Civita Restaurant & Red Cactus

Description

This joint venture embodies much of what is right with the world; namely a great bar and an excellent restaurant. Located in Little Italy, this space is largely frequented by yuppie clientele. Those that come here come for the wood oven pizza and the succulent entrees. The restaurant offers an intimate setting perfect for business or romantic head to heads and the bar, although small, is pure fun. In summer, like every restaurant on the street, a patio is available to sit on and watch the world go by.

In the top five in Winnipeg, without doubt
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/11
We've been to this place at least 20 times in the last five years and the quality of the food has never wavered; it's excellent! And, we've had everything on the menu. Their wine pairing dinners are to die for. The service is fast and friendly, even on the busiest days. Group functions are always A-1. The value is also excellent. I really think they undercharge. $25 for the best steak in town with all the trimmings is not expensive by any means. We like the atmosphere both inside and on the side patio. The place is super clean; no need to wipe your cutlery here. The only downside for this restaurant is the parking, especially in summer. It's street parking only and as much as two blocks away. So you go ten minutes earlier than your reservation and work up an appetite before supper. That's okay.

You can't pay me to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/10
Ordered the grilled caesar salad..thank goodness it was only the 1/2 portion...lettuce leaves on the inner side of the wedge of lettuce were rotted and they still served to our table... Servers too busy to check on our satisfaction and 2nd gal who came on to the later shift had such a bad attitude... forget about taking my business associates there when they arrive from out of town! Washrooms were disgustingly filthy!!

so much to enjoy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/09
The menu is so broad that even our picky eater in the group found something to eat and enjoy! So much variety! Totally enjoyable experience...great food, service. Little dark inside...but candles on table added a romantic feel.

Second chance to make a first impression
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/08
My first visit was not inspiring, but I gave it a second chance because it had potential. First visit (after work get-together): The food was very good, but service was average at best, and it wasn't very busy. The one thing that bothered me was that they charged me $6 for a virgin margarita when a regular margarita is $7...??? Second visit (lunch): Service was better, food was consistent and above average. Bottom line: I'll go back if I'm looking for a nice, quiet, little place on Corydon.

Best place in town!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/08
Nestled in the heart of the Corydon strip, this little restaurant is a hidden gem. Attentive, exceptionally polite service, knowlegeable on every aspect of not only the menu, but also the wine list. My wife and I each had the beef tenderloin, and it is now THE benchmark for any steak I will have in this city. Simply amazing! It was truly a great dining experience, and I highly recommend it. Well worthy of the 5 star rating!

Phenominal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/08
Civita was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I had absolutely no complaints other than the fact that it was a little dark in there. The food was amazing, the service was phenominal, the prices were a little on the high side, but considering the quality and amount of food, it was very well worth it. I will definitely go back.

I am always there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/07
The food and atmosphere are fabulous. The service was great and always with a smile. I patron the place frequently and am always more then happy. The knowledge of wine to accompany your meal is overwelming. This is a must go to restaurant.

The best place on Corydon!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/07
The food was perfect and to my specifications. Best Calamari in town! The service was exceptional and on top of every one of my needs. Very romantic ambiance and great wine selection. The value was very reasonable. Way better that paying a fortune at a chain restaurant with a no good ambiance. I definetly will be going back.
