Pasta-la-Vista

Description

In a downtown core that at times lacks life, this space shatters that mold. On offer are good pastas and an atmosphere that is bright and inviting. The service is friendly and vibrant. Jazz vibes are the acoustic genre that fill the air, but do not get in the way of good conversation. The good food and the appealing environment make this spot a favorite with local business people and families alike.

Not a bad experience
By ,
My wife and I went to the newer location for a Valentines day supper. The food was very tasty and the services was really good. The only problem that I had was the amount of food that you got for your money. There was no complimentory bread with the meal. Everything was extra, including Chicken for my wife's dish ($6.00 for a few pieces of chicken.) My wife and I decided that in the future, we would not be going back.

Just love the food
By ,
I have been to Pasta la Vista 5 times in the past 3 years each time right before going to a Moose game, I have found that the food is always great, the staff very accommadating. It is great just to be able to walk over to the game. The only problem I ever had occured the first time I was there, when I thought I'd follow my girlfriend into the ladies washroom, I was in a big rush, and it was dark in the hallway. I pushed open the first door and saw this picture of a woman on the wall, so in I went, not really taking note of anything. As I sat down I realized that somthing had not been right, my girlfriend was not in the there with me. Oh Oh I'm in the mens. Never peed so fast in my life. We all had a good laugh when I got back to the table.

bones in sandwich
By ,
Have gone to downtown location and experience was very good. New location in south Winnipeg does not match up. Have been two times, both for lunch. Very rushed, poor service and food was awful. Full "hunk" of chicken in sandwich with wing bones still on it. Showed waiter and all he did is put the bones in his hand and walk away. Second time soup was very good - hot and tasty, but the pasta tasted like dry curry powder was shaken on top, and dish not hot. Do not want to go back, but it is close for lunch so may try again - hope the kitchen fixes the problems. Will go back to the downtown location. Have never had a bad meal there - but service is spotty at times.

Serious Potential
By ,
The food was excellent, though the portions are "elegant", so if you have a hearty appetite, be prepared to spend extra money on an appetizer or dessert. The overall experience was lovely, but our waitress was a little bit disorganized, and seemed to have trouble getting to us with comfortable amounts of time between courses (drinks to bread, bread plates removed before meal arrived, etc.). The lounge at the Linden Woods location is comfortable, but since they are still figuring out what food volumes they need to service the demmand of their new restaurant location, they had run out of every dessert by the time we ordered it. The blackcherry gelato was the exception - which the manager provided for free, after we had tried ordering two different selections - but I am definitely not holding an off-night against them. Overall I was very impressed with my meal (butternut squash ravioli, $14) and would recommend it to anyone.

Birthday let-down
By ,
I went to Pasta La Vista for my birthday, hoping to have a few nice glasses of wine and a leisurely dinner. The service however is "on-the-run" and while our food came quickly, you certainly felt pressure to eat and get out. The food was fairly good, I had the seafood linguine, which I would recommend as you get a lot of seafood, but it was not worth the price, and the spicing and consistency of the sauce left something to be desired. Overall, I don't think I would go to this restaurant again for a nice dinner, it is more suited for drinks and appetizers.
