Injury and Insult at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort
By ,
I saw the ads for the Grotto Bay Beach Resort and was so excited for our family vacation. It turns out the amenities with the swim from the cave to ocean was false advertising and their staff were pretentious and unhelpful. It does not offer the service it advertises. The lighting around the grounds is poor and I fell and broke my hip! I spent the majority of my vacation in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital recovering from surgery. The hospital was superior in their accommodation and service, unlike the Grotto Bay Beach Resort. When I fell, not one Grotto Bay Beach Resort employee offered assistance. It was guests' concern and commotion that a paramedic was called. They did not offer to comp my room and were indifferent and rude to my request to assist my teenagers, who were vacationing alone. I wish I could sue them for damages, but I can't afford the time and money it would require. If you want Best Western accommodations, Parisian snobbery with Motel 6 service, you've got the Grotto Bay Beach Resort. After getting out of the hospital, we moved to Aunt Nea's and felt the real Bermuda. It was charming and provided a personal touch. There are so many wonderful places to stay in Bermuda, that you owe it to yourself to look around.

Govt. should buy Sonesta Beach property
By ,
We were in Bermuda in June for a vacation and noticed that the Sonesta Beach Hotel property was abandoned. It would be an amazing opportunity for the government of Bermuda to purchase that property and make a public beach/park out of it. My husband has worked on Walt Disney properties for 12 years on the engineering side and he said he could just see how it could be done and beautifully. With Gibbs Hill lighthouse right there, you could go to the beach, tour the lighthouse and have lunch in the restaurant in the lighthouse. It would really add to the islands appeal. Just a thought. Bright minds think alike!

Bermuda hospitality delivered in a crunch
By ,
After our May 29 POS (Trinidad) to Toronto (Canada) Caribbean Airlines flight made an emergency stopover in Bermuda to offload an ill passenger, the flight could not depart before getting clearance having landed over-weight, we landed shortly before the airport closed. The Bermuda Tourist Board took charge of a chaotic and frustrating evening by arranging ground transportation and accommodation for all passengers and made every effort to arrange breakfast and ground transportation back to the airport on May 30. The service provided by the Bermuda Tourist Board on short notice was remarkable! They proved that their approach to tourism and caring for all visitors is second to none. The drivers were courteous, provided us with information about the island and pointed out the landmarks during our short viist. The hotel rooms were comfortable, the employees who stayed around to greet the tired, upset passengers were also very welcoming. We were greeted with nothing but bright smiles and friendliness from all employees we met on during our short stay as they invited us to return one day. Thank you, Bermuda Tourist Board and BAS! Kathy & Ray Treston

By ,
Born & raised on the Island - it's in my blood!! Help! where can I find the above mentioned book? People in Arizona would love to know how the other 'real" Bermudians talk -- they enjoy the things I say!!! Thank you very much,

Terrible Customer Service at the Surf Side Beach Club in South Shore
By ,
I think that your Island is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen but the customer service and Hotel accomodations were terrible, the people working at the Hotel were not very curtious at all and the customer service could not get any worst. I plan to writea letter to Dr. Ewart Brown at the Department of Tourism to inform him in detail of how terrible me and my guests were treated it was totally unacceptable.

what a difference a day makes
By ,
this is a note to thank the department of tourism for arranging a taxi tour for me and judy colbert on wednesday, june 22, 2005. ronald scrader was an excellent tour guide in every way. the sites we stopped at were telegenic, historic and unique. he even helped me book a room in hamilton for that evening. he was flexible enough to extend our tour another hour so we could enjoy several more sites that we might have missed. ronald is a wonderful representative of tourism in bermuda and is to be commended. yours truly, steve kass ps i would like to return to visit when time allows. are there any lodgings less than $200/nite ? i did not have time to shop around.
