Description

Occupying a bustling corner site in Wellington's entertainment area, Calzone is the perfect place for upbeat dining with friends. Enjoy al fresco dining in summer and the spacious back bar for pre-dinner drinks in winter. Caters for the young and outgoing 30-something crowd. Food is Italian with a French influence, and gourmet pizza and pasta are a speciality. Moderately priced mains are served up with good music. Try the Fish of the day with Tomato Rissotto Cake, Wilted Spinach and Red Pepper Coulis. Also, good for cake and coffee after the movies or the theatre.

Dining or just having coffee - great for both

The service, food and drinks are excellent. The ambience is good and the location is primo. The staff are always friendly and seem to enjoy being there - which is great for the customer. Sit here relaxing with a coffee and friends, or the paper, and cruise for hours. Also handy to many other food and entertainment spots.

a very sunny place to enjoy your day with a coffee and the newspaper in the outside area and i never ate lovely spiced pasta like there. Pasta is not just pasta...

Decent food, poor service

We always wondered why Calzone was only half full most nights, given its location. Ended up giving it a try one thursday. We told our waitress we had to leave just after 8pm, at just after 7. No problem apparently. Our entrees were tasty, reasonable, and interesting. 8pm arrives and we really needed to leave, so we asked how long to wait? Another waitress said, “I can’t go into the kitchen right now, They’re in the middle of something for the next 5min”. We were late by this stage, so went up to pay and asked for an explanation or apology. The owner stared back and said “we’re busy”. Asked again for an apology, she actually replied “whatever, I’m not the cook”. It would’ve been pretty funny, if it hadn’t been such a lame excuse. I almost give this bunch of amateurs credit for staying in business so long. At least now I know why Calzone is only ever half full of people. Everyone else got sick of waiting.

They sold me

The food was excellent, the ambiance was great. The service was a little slow but not too bad but the staff knew the menu and knew what they were talking about. The meal I had was great and I left feeling extremely satisfied.

So slow we missed the show!

The food was fine once it arrived. But I have to mark the place down as we told the staff our timeframe which was not that tight 1.5 hours. But after over an hour of no food we started to get jumpy. The meals finally came 10 minutes before our show started. No apology, nothing... Sorry folks last time you see me thru the door.

Great food even better service

Gosh some people know how to complain, if they wanted fast food then they should have gone to Mc Donalds or KFC. Going out to dinner at a place like Calzone you need to have time to relax and enjoy your food and company. They make the best Pizza and the pasta dishes just melt in your mouth. The service is great they don't bug you all the time like some place's. The staff always notice when you do need them though, and that is how it should be. The kitchen gives you time to enjoy your entree and don't rush your main out just as you finish your entree. They wan't you to relax and enjoy there food, and they are not in a hurry to get you out so they can get more people in. The owners have had the place for 13 years and are very friendly. I can only say good things about the place it is a must try only if you enjoy relaxing. If your a in and out person then just go to a fast food place. GO TRY THE BEST PIZZA IN TOWN AT CALZONE
