Celia s is a good choice to eat good tasty Mexican food. I ve ordered the shrimp enchilada to die for!! I think the prices were reasonable for the amount of food that covers the plate. Oh, by the way, the drinks are very good! I recommend ordering the Pink Cadillac!
Great food, first of all. Their combo plates are exactly right. Don t forget to order the coleslaw. The first time I went, we got there towards the end of the evening, and the place was quiet, but the service was friendly and quick, and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. When you re in the mood for a big plate of comfy Mexican goodness, Celia s is your answer.
We ate at Celia's in Hayward last evening, and our experience was terrible. This was some of the blandest Mexican food either of us has ever had, and the rice was the worst! Neither of us could finish our food. For $30.00 it was a violation of our taste buds. And, one of us is Mexican-American and knows what good Mexican food should taste like. We will not be back! (The wait-staff was the best thing about the restaurant!)
I called Celias on Monday to see if they accomodate a party for up to 40 people on Friday .I was assured that they could do this . I was advised that they also had Karaoke starting at 8 oclock .I asked if the people under 18 would have to leave at that time and was assured that they could stay. I thought it was a bonus to have some entertainment for the guests that had invited for my grandsons 18th birthday.I had family coming in from as far as Tracy , and Discovery Bay. Some were able to get there by the agreed time of 6:30 others a little later because of traffic.I have to say the waiters were friendly and tried to be accomodating for the large crowd but , that is where anything positive about this review will end.The food was terrible , late and not much of what was ordered was actually given to the correct party. My son bit into a wooden toothpick in his chile relleno. My chicken breast for my salad was dried up hard to chew and burned .After being served and most of us had eaten. We were asked how much longer we would be there because they had another party coming in.We didnt get a chance to sing Happy Birthday , cut the cake or even sit around and visit and have coffee.I was never told that our visit would be timed or rushed.I have never , ever been treated like this in any establishment. As soon as our $400 and something bill was paid , they couldnt wait for us to get out !!! What I found out is , there were the regulars that come in to drink and listen to and participate in the Karoake .That was the urgency for us to leave !!!! I would never reccommend this establishment . Now I understand why , when I told some of our group where we having this Birthday party they said they had heard nothing but negative things about this place . Wanting to keep the $$ in our community of Haywards business I thought I would get my own opinion and I sure did,
My family has been going to all the Celia's locations for many years. I thought we should add a more current critic. Yes, when Celia's first opened their food was different than the other locations, and I admit was not very good. HOWEVER, about 3 years ago the owners of the locations on the peninsula (San Mateo, etc.) took over the Hayward location and we are happy to say it is comparable - the food and margaritas are great. We hope people will give Celia's in Hayward another try!
We ordered several of their dishes for a company meeting and the food was fantastic! The food was tasty and hot. I too have been to Celias in San Bruno, San Mateo and Daly City and I think the food is very consistent throughout all of the restaurants.
