I had a great chipped pork BBQ sandwich at Porky's last week. I live in Ohio and don't get this kind of BBQ up here. It's a must stop for me the next time I'm near Fultondale. It was great to see the owner, Harry again. We were school mates over 45 years ago and had not crossed paths in all those years. Keep up the good work Harry!

Mmmm, I live right by Porky's and eat there all the time. Definitely worth eating there. And, if i may recommend, the fried green tomatoes are outstanding, make sure you get ranch with them. :)
My buddy & I stopped by Porky's on the way back from a basketball game on Saturday night. We had seen the billboards on I-65 and decided to check it out. We turned the wrong direction from the exit thinking they would be located around all of the fast food joints but they are actually located west of the interstate.
We finally found Porky's and it was worth the effort. The owner was manning the cash register and taking orders. My buddy had the BBQ Pork Plate and I had the Combo Plate which consisted of Pork BBQ, One rib & smoked sausage. The BBQ Pork was very moist and tender, the rib was way above average and the smoked sausage was excellent. Porky's bbq sauce is a tomato base sauce with a good influence of smoke and vinegar. It's tangy with a subtle sweetness to it. I thought it complimented the meat very well.
The side item selection was limited to the standard fare. We had the fries and the homemade vinegar slaw. Both were good.
My buddy & I both are KCBS Certified Barbecue Judges and know our barbecue. So when we recommend a place it is from experience tasting great barbecue. We both highly recommend that you stop by and see the friendly folks at Porky's Pride BBQ.
I will definitely be stopping by on my trips to Birmingham.

Porky's has the taste of the old time pit bbq i remember from my childhood. I am from Memphis (The BBQ capital of the world), and have tasted most of the BBQ Memphis has to offer........and Porky's rates right up there with the best Memphsi has to offer.
The folks that work there are very nice and the feeling you get when you walk in, is one of entering a diner from back in the 50's & 60's....very downhome and comfortable.
So if you are ever in Fultondale, you have got to try Porky's !
Very tasty barbeque. better than the better known chains. You receive good quality for less money. The employees are very nice and take time to recommend different things. Probably the best barbeque I have tasted in Alabama.
