Salt Island, Orlando

3/25/2010 and 3/26/2010 GREAT PLACE! I bid and won two Salt Island $100 certificates from Skyauction.com at a deep discount. What a fantastic bargain!! The food was awesome. The service was friendly and attentive. We ended up eating 2 nights in a row (2 adults + 3 kids). The seafood was fresh and delicious and so was the fillet mignon. We were there during Springbreak and did not experience the negatives in the other reviews. I'm glad we didn't listen to them. We should have bought more certificates and eat there every night during our vacation.

This place was awesome, the food was great, the service excellent!

This place was EXCELLENT, superb! We had excellent service, an educated and informed waiter. The food was absolutely delicious. The appetizer of scallops was good perfectly, the bread was divine; the Beefsteak Tomato Salad was out of this world as was the Ceasar Salad my husband ordered. Finally, I had the Salt Island Sampler and my husband had the Brown Betty Mahi Mahi and both were cooked perfectly and the taste was fantastic. This is a great restaurant, will definitely go there again. Can't tell you about the dessert, we didn't have room for any. The price was extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and service!

First, I am local.. and I was in the resturant busniess for 10 years.. whoever likes this place.. is working there and lying to you.. This place is a converted Chinese resturant that Darden used to own. There are only 2 fish tanks so the decor is okay, but I was sitting next to one and the bottom of it was coming off it.. which was sharp medal.. NICE!! The food was actually good.. but it took 75 minutes to arrive to our table once we sat down.. I havea 14 month old.. her dinner came out with ours.. which made for a fun evening. I have never been so so disapointed in a experience and I eat out about 3 times a week in Orlando..

The ambiance is fun and the service is great, but the food is average and very VERY overpriced. The salad was pretty good and would have made a meal in itself. For the entre I ordered a 10 oz filet mignon cooked medium. The steak was served on the bone - it wasn't even fileted! It was also almost medium but not quite. It was actually medium rare but overly browned on the outside. This place if far too pricey for that kind of meal.

Poor, poor, poor...take your $150 and go elsewhere. Food was overcooked and tough. We had an appy that we split then different salads, entrees and desserts. The appy was good or I'd have said...poor, poor, poor and poor... I wouldn't even give it one star.

The food is fine. Not great...just ok. The service is bizarre and the philosophy is just wrong. They would not sit 8 out of our ten party with 2 people missing. We had a 90 year old woman, who they made stand for 10 minutes. We assured them the 2 other people left the hotel 1 minute behind us and were caught at a light. Still no ability to see past their own rule. They tried to upsell our wine to a $200 bottle without telling us. They said we could not do dressing on the side of my grandmother's salad. That's just idiotic. There were so many other things wrong with this place...but I am getting fired up again...so I will end this with a simple...DO NOT BOTHER.

Went to this locale during vacation hoping it wouldn't be that bad, wrong answer. Arrived and all the parking is free valet, mistake 1. Inside of place looked great, nice fish tanks and display of fish and other items in cooler. Was promptly taken to the back of the place and seated-mistake 2. Table was lined with dishes, silverware, and glasses. Waitress handed us very large menus which you couldn't help knocking the tableware around. I did not enjoy the hard sell for everything there, from the water to the large cart they wheeled next to us. When the waitress got pissed that we wanted the daily specials, she damn near took my hand off by jamming the cart into the table when leaving, mistake 3. Anyway, after waiting for our meal, our original waitress did not come back and was replaced by another waiter....needless to say he got a very good tip on our $90 bill. This place wasn't bad, but I would not go there again, it was a one-time event. Seemed like they wanted the upscale pretty people upfront, the rest of the cattle in the back.

I too was referred to this place by the concierge of our hotel and was hugely disappointed. The best meal on the table was my 6 year old daughter's roasted chicken. Portions were low, service was flim-flam with waiter never checking back, following through. Was a very disappointing experience that left me with the choice of whether or not to leave a tip. I chose not to, for the first time in my life. Followed up with concierge and suggested he refrain recommending the place too..

We were on our honeymoon in Orlando and asked the hotel concierge to recommend a great seafood place, and this is what he picked. It was terrible. The service was awful, and I've had better seafood from my local grocery store! Needless to say we were very disappointed by the recommendation and hated that we wasted one of our honeymoon dinners at this place. We would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.
