Tennessee Wildlife Center
From fox to bobcat to the endangered red-tailed hawk, these animals are not on display, rather living their lives free from zoo cages or poachers, in their natural habitat. Endangered species, injured animals and birds that choose to make their home here are cared for by the staff and seem to enjoy the company of visitors. Scenic walkways, hiking paths and educational centers make this more than an animal exhibit. This is a full-featured outdoor park for families looking for outdoor adventure.
This is a great place to teach children about quiet walks, using your senses to look, see, touch, and sometimes smell of nature. I feel children should learn to care for this earth that God gave us, children are so used to fast pace they need to learn to look around at what we have living around us,they are the future of our earth and they need to know how to care for it. Kids also love the bamboo cane poles to play adventure in, using their imagination.
So pack a picnic, blanket, a book to read to your children in the treehouse and enjoy nature.
This was one of the places that we had hoped to visit on our trip, but was not a top priority. Then we happened upon it while looking for another attraction, and that must happen quite a bit because the asked where we heard about it or if we accidentally arrived there. We only did the walk through section as we had other places to be at a specific time. It was beautiful, and the leaves haven't even changed colors yet! The nature trail was a nice, serene walk and although we did not see a lot of native wildlife, we saw evidence of them in footprints. The animal preserve section is small, but adequate for the animals they have rescued. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure that we had a good time. They gave us tips on viewing the animals and answered any questions we had. They even pointed us in the direction of the attraction that we intended to see when we happened upon them. It will be on our list of things to do when we return to Chattanooga again, and this time we'll make sure to do the drive through section also.
