Rock City Gardens

Description

Rock City is a beautiful collection of gardens atop Lookout Mountain providing stunning views of the city and profound solace from the busy world below. One of many popular sites above the mountain, this attraction offers thrills at a swinging bridge, chills at the edge of Lovers' Leap and spills inside Mother Goose's Nursery for kids. Trails lead through Fat Man's Squeeze (you better work out before you come here) to the scenic overlook where you can see Seven States (you'll just have to come see how they pull that one off). Admission rates are: $11.95 for adults; $6.50 for children. Free parking is available.

Fun for the family
By Hannah, 8/9/10
It has gotten a little pricey in recent years (about $19 with tax for adults). But it is still a great outing if you take full advantage of the various trails and exhibits.

Fat Man's Squeeze
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/10
There are signs before you get to the Fat's Man's Squeeze warning you that it is very thin and if you "overweight" or "wide" that you should avoid it. If you can read, it will not be a problem. If not, bring someone that can. There is a long stair way down to the choke point and signs are posted everywhere.

Wonderful place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/09
Was wonderfull to see the place I saw wrote about on barn years ago. I grow up in the 50-60 in Kansas and remember see the barn with "See Rock City" when we took our vacations every year. My husband and I celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in Chattanooga area. I was a little concerned about the walking and stairs. But the level stone path were great and not too many stairs at one time. It was a very hot day, but cool in the park at noon. The Mother goose thing were great wished our grandchildren could see it. The stairs were worth it. Mother nature at its best. Loved it. Houston,TX

Gorgeous
By Stacia, 2/19/09
We went in November and will all the leaf color changes made it more beautiful than ever. I would think that when they have it lite up at night it is something wonderful to see. There are lots of shortcuts for those who can't do the whole thing and a few snack stands on the paths as well. We didn't bring our kids this time, but I would love to bring them next time I have the chance.

Fat Man's Squeeze Is No Joke
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/08
I wanted to warn others who are above average in weight that the Fat Man's Squeeze was a very tight fit for me. I am 5' 8" and wear a women's size 3X. I could BARELY make it through. In fact, I was almost in tears from the experience and felt very anxious as I forced myself through that area. We went back at nighttime to see the Christmas lights. Fortunately, Fat Man's Squeeze was not part of that. No one warned me when I bought our tickets that I might have a tough time in Fat Man's Squeeze. Big people BEWARE!

By Abowers, 5/20/08
The views are beathtaking but what we loved was the rock formations and the landscaping. It was so beautiful! The weather was perfect except for being a little overcast. I can only imagine how lovely it mus be in the Spring when everything is blooming.

We Go Every Year!
By KRM, 11/1/07
Great fun. We started going when we were dating. After we married and had our son, we began spending every Christmas at the Enchanted Garden of Lights. Our son has always thought that that's where Santa always is. We love it!!! Do the Chattanooga Christmas Parade first and then head up to the top of the mountain. :)
