La Duni Latin Kitchen
Blending European traditions with Latin American soul, La Duni mixes the flavors, aromas, colors, textures, forms and sounds of both cultures to create the ultimate "Mestizo" experience which could be described as "the taste of freshly made black beans with a splash of Cilantro Mojo sauce, soft scrambled eggs with Tomato Hogao Salsa and the earthy essence of grilled handmade white corn Arepas". Combined with the exhilarating aroma of just ground and brewed altura coffee, these incredible blendings of food and drink create the unique Latin experience. Open 6 days a week for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, La Duni offers something for everyone. To start your day, enjoy a Pastel Gloria, a Danish style pastry, baked fresh daily in our in-house bakery. Fresh squeezed juices, a full breakfast menu and an extensive list of espresso drinks, house blend teas and hot chocolates round out the breakfast fare.
My family and I went there on a Thursday night in January '09 and the food was great. Growing up in Venezuela (yet having mostly Mexican heritage), I've been looking for a good place to eat goot Cuban/Latin American cuisine, and La Duni was perfect.
The plates are presented beautifully.
If you like Gloria's, you will love La Duni even more. It's a little bit pricier, but well worth it.
Great service, atmosphere, and good food.
The food is very good, and it arrives beautifully plated, too, which goes with the warm and inviting decor. The style is Euro-Latin with flair. This is a great place for a date or, because the desserts are excellent (try the warm chocolate pudding with caramel, chocolate, and raspberry sauces or the chocolate hazelnut cake), you can come for dessert and coffee, it's got a great atmosphere. The service is generally good, though their waiters don't always seem very clear on things (if you ask them about their afternoon teatime, for example, they seem a little confused), but the service is friendly and attentive otherwise.
La Duni is one of my, if not most, favorite restaurants in Dallas. From the pastry chef, to the entree chef and down to the chocolatier, La Duni has surpassed taste excellence. Being an authentic Spanish cuisine establishment, the chef's carefully prepare the finest seafood, sauces and spanish favorites perfectly paired with spanish wines. Do not forget the best espresso and array of desserts found in town.
