Oral Roberts University, Tulsa

O.R.U. is an amazing University! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the buildings are sparkling clean. The dorms are top rate as well. But what really sets this unique place apart are the students, administrators, and staff, they are a wonderful reflection of Christ. This is a first class place, in which I felt completely comfortable leaving my 17 year old freshman.

When visiting ORU campus one will delight in the peace of acceptance and generosity. The students, staff, and supervisors exemplify the paramount integrity and character that is to be defined as Christ-like. I challenge anyone that visits the campus to approach several strangers and freely ask questions concerning the universities pros and cons. While visiting the grounds, make it a priority to seek out the prayer gardens surrounding the Prayer Tower located at the center of the campus. One would find that they are heavy with the atmosphere of prayer and I encourage you to take a moment and offer up a prayer to our infinite yet personal Savior. Famous for their praying hands and unique architecture, Oral Roberts University holds a diverse blend able to please anyone looking for an environment that is different from the norm. The people are amazing and extremely friendly.

The campus is confused and confusing, a mishmash of forms, materials, and colors that tries too hard to be a literal representation of chrisitanity and falls flat. The architectural concept feels as forced as the whole idea of a university dedicated to a tent revival preacher. However, it is a sublime example of 60's world's fair architectural decay. Kind of a faded, crumbling Jetsons setting. If you love the tackiness of Graceland or the Freemont experience in Las Vegas....this is heaven! For the record, I'm a conservative, protestant christian republican. Good design and Christianity don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Oral Roberts University is one of a kind. Students from every US state and from all continents gather to get their professional education at an institution which focuses not only on academic excellence, but also on spiritual growth and physical fitness. ORU is the leading charismatic non-denominational university in the world, and provides a great atmosphere for Christians to "increase their learning, while they keep their burnin'." God is in this place. It is impossible not to be touched by Him if one comes with an open heart. The campus itself is spectacular and is well worth a visit.

ORU is a university of excellence, rich in diversity and Christian tradition. The campus features amazing architecture with a story and the athletic teams at ORU provide for interesting and fun-to-watch competition, including men's & women's basketball, women's volleyball, and baseball. The prayer gardens are beautifully landscaped and very peaceful. Definitely worth an afternoon walk-through
