Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum
Spread over 70-acres within Mohawk Park on the northern edge of Tulsa, the Tulsa Zoo is home to over 1,500 animals. The beautifully landscaped paths provide views of tigers, elephants, bears, chimpanzees and many other species. Animal demonstrations are scheduled throughout the week, and special seasonal exhibits are also presented, such as "Wings of Wonder," an aviary filled with thousands of rare butterflies. The zoo also features a children's zoo and many educational exhibits relating to zoology and the natural sciences, such as the North American Living Museum, making it a favorite educational trip for children.
This isn't much of a value unless you buy an annual membership for the family. Before my kids were in school, we had friends who also had a membership, so we would go, literally every week. It was terrific, and we could enjoy as much as they wanted to each time we went, and we didn't feel like we had to cram it all in with one trip, every time.
I go to the Tulsa Zoo usually once or twice a year...in the summer. The Tulsa Zoo has many fine exhibits including newer exhibits such as the Penguins, The Masai Village, and the Tropical Rain Forest. The zoo is constantly updating, and has even renovated their older buildings. It's one of the better zoos around.
For the whiners, here's a hint: Never go to a zoo when its extremely cold, or in bad weather. Much more bang for the buck when its warm and sunny.
i have delt with a lot of monkeys in my life, but this is a great place to monkey around.Find out before you go,and just try to enjoy some of gods strange creatures.keep an open mind and always enjoy each experience and exhibit ..life is to short for winers.
We went here because there was a lot of media hype and we are disappointed; don't know how they could be America's favorite zoo. Really liked the rainforest and they have a great playground for the kids. But then again we didnt go to the zoo to find a playground. Too much walking and not enough animals. Not recommended for bad weather days.
I have been to many zoos across the US and for a medium sized city, the Tulsa zoo is the best. The Chipanzee exhibit is one of the best in the nation and there are many of great exhibits to see. If you like to go to the zoo try the Tulsa zoo.
