Gaddi's, Kowloon

THIS PLACE sucks! It's in a hotel and the host had such bad manners. The guy looked us all up and down, and then he comment several racial comments. I understand that it's a high class hotel, but just because we weren't in gowns, it doesnt mean that we couldnt afford the meal. I don't think that a hotel should have such low service. It makes the hotel even more degrading. there are plenty of other restaurants out there that will serve simply for the pleasure of serving. I'm pretty sure if the president of whatever country happened to walk into the restaurant with semi-casual clothing, that they would reject. So they were just rude and lack discpline.

I have had dinner at Gaddi's many times over the last 10 years living in HK. It has now officially turned into a tourist trap. I can not say how many times I was reminded to wear a Jacket and also during the meal it seemed every table had a birthday going on. We found it hard to complete a conversation with all the "Happy Birthday singing". The food is normal well prepared but not really substantial for what one has come to expect from Gaddi's. Clearly, the bar has been pushed down to a level to speed the turn over of tables or birthday celebrations. Wine list is well below that of other establishments in Hong Kong. The collection of rare wine was abundant with limited depth in anything on the list from 1990-2002. It would seem they have elected to only order 2003 forward even of the Grand Cru. Heck why didn't I just order that HK$50,000 Petrus? The recent addition of live band and singer is nice but since when did Gaddis turn into a stage show?
