Grandfather Mountain, Newland

Had to sit in our vehicle for over 1 and 1/2 hrs just to get in the gate. Hoping the wait would be worth it. No parking, couldn't stop even for the scenery. Cars stopped bumper to bumper all the way up the mtn. Another hr. wait just inching up the mtn. After being in the car for over 3 and 1/2 hrs and still at the bottom of mtn, we sadly left. In haste to get us thru the gate we were overcharged. A very disappointing experience. Not to mention the gas used just sitting in line.Don't know who the owners are or who manages this operation, but improvements are greatly needed. Will not return or recommend this for a fall trip at all.

Beautiful scenery. Went to Grandfather MT on a road trip and loved it. They provide you with a CD to play on your way up the MT which is very unique and informative. Has nice hiking trails.

Grandfather Mountain is very enjoyable. At $14/person it may be a slightly overpriced or at least you've seen it once and don't have to go back again. But it is very tourist friendly. If you have AAA it is a $2 discount off General Admission. One nice thing is if you bring a dog, at the admission gate, they give you free doggie snacks as part of their "Mile High Doggie Club." It was a neat little treat.

the drive to the top is the really scenic and you can stop at the small muesum. There are lots of vista points in between. The bridge is really kool :). the only thing i dont liked was the entry fees, it was little high as been expected. enjoy the trip

Been there lots of times and always find new enjoyment! From the animals...my favorite is the cougar but the eagles are magnificent... to the swinging bridge, it is all a great experience! I hope everybody gets to go when a cloud has decended on the mountain and the visibility is about 5 feet! The view is wonderful when it is clear and sunny, but the feelings on the bridge in a cloud is mind-boggling!
