Cherokee Visitors Center, Cherokee

The visitors center was very nice and friendly,the whole town of Cherokee was and Is extremely friendly and inviting,we try to go through here every time we go to Gatlinburg Tn,I miss the cheif he always sat on the corner of the one little shop on the strip,we always make our way down to the little shop where Killing bear and his family are with the tepe and take our annual picture with him,and no matter how many times we visit the bears we never leave Cherokee without feeding them,our favorite spot to sit after our long walks around town are at the little park with the beautiful water where they do not mind the kids wading and splashing. I would love to live in Cherokee some of our best memories have been made there!

I lived on the Cherokee reservation back in 1989 and it was as beautiful then as it is now. Many changes have occured since then, they have a casino (no alcohol) and looks as though they are prospering much better than when I lived there. If you are looking for good places to shop or learn about the Tribe itself you're in the right place. Gatlinburg is just over the mountain about 44 miles and is a tourist trap but very cool and worth the money and time spent. Hopefully if you visit you'll have a week to check out alot of the hiking trails and the beauty of the Smoky Mountains themselves. I'll be back there ten days from today!!!
