Asheville Tourists Minor League Baseball Team
Munch peanuts and Crackerjack and enjoy some good ol' baseball at McCormick Field in downtown Asheville. An average of 13 Thirsty Thursdays are on the Tourists' home schedule. Beer is just a buck on these nights, and the crowd loves it. McCormick Field itself holds a lot of history - scenes from the movie 'Bull Durham' were shot here. Tickets range in price from USD5-USD9 and the season opens in April and runs through September. Check the website for information and details on the event schedule.
Nothing is more American than Baseball in a hisoric stadium. The tickets are very inexpensive and the seats are so close to the players. It has a very hometown feel. If your husband is bored with all of Asheville's great shopping and galleries, treat him to a game!
Going to see the Tourists play is a favorite activities of locals. The players are really great and there is a really positive atmosphere. It has all of the fun of a Major League at a fraction of the cost. If you're looking for a fun day and a taste of the local atmosphere, go to a Tourists game!
A can't miss for a baseball nerd. Ruth and
Cobb and many mythic players played here.
BULL DURHAM filmed here. SALLY league consists of very young guys, many who may
be playing right now in the College World
Series. This is homey baseball. Right on
top of the players. There is CHALK lineup
card posted. Sometimes you get free bread
on the way out. No kidding. Although we
go to our local SALLY team's games and four
or five Braves games a year, we always make
it to Asheville for a couple of games a
season. Love the Tourist Bear.
