Description

While you're enjoying all the beauty that the Blue Ridge Mountains has to offer, don't forget to stop by the Folk Art Center at Milepost 382 along the parkway. This is the most popular spot along the parkway. The center houses much history of Southern Appalachian craftsmanship. There are 3 galleries with changing exhibits, a craft shop, a library and an auditorium. Several of thousands of pieces from the Guild's turn of the 20th century permanent craft collection can be seen at certain times throughout the year.

Wonderful place!

Beautiful setting, nice people and a wonderful exhibit area. The gift shop is loaded with unique glass, pottery, art and more at very reasonable prices. Don't miss this!

Interesting!

I just visited for the first timein September. It is quite nice. I loved the local craftsmen demonstrations. Lotsof neat stuff to see, and a big shop full of the guild members work.

A must see and do experience

The Folk Art Center is one of the most unique travel experiences of Western North CArolina. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge , this lovely building houses special arts and crafts exhibits, generally features gifted artisans on site demonstrating their skills and the gift shop features the finest of local pottery, weaving, stained glass work, wood working and handmade jewelry. Do not miss this special place!!!

Art-tastic!

I learned very much about North Carolina history and reall observed the extreme effort of artists. There's no guide, so you have all the time in the world to look at all the art. My favorite part were the amazing carvings and jewelry. There was one man carving his work right in front of my family and I. It was an amazing experience!! I would definitly go back again!!
