The food is good. The service usually isn t that great. I live in town and have eaten here several times. It s not a great place for elderly folks or people with hearing difficulties as it s very loud. I also know who weasel boy is. He s a jerky waiter who s bumped me in the head or shoulders several times from not being aware of his surroundings (and never apologizing)...not a good server and not very attentive...sometimes he tends bar as well.
The person who runs this restaurant does have a handle on the local restaurant business. If you want a slightly quieter setting try her Italian joint across the street. It can be noisy...and there are way too many tables leaving little maneuvering room for the servers...but..it s not as obnoxious as the Waterfront Depot.
I love this place! Romantic, fun, and classy. Not to mention the food is absoutely perfect. I love the chalkboard menu....different than other restaurants. So fun to sit at the bar and meet folks from other parts of the country. I go there with my Sweetheart everytime I'm in Florence...which is once a month.
Full of character! Sit at the bar and share drinks and food with those around you. If you want a table, making reservations is a must. The crab encrusted halibut ($10.00 for the past 2 years) is delicious. If you're hungry, you better order two of these plates. Mix in a pomegranate martini and your meal is complete. Oh, don't forget the homemade cake to top it off. Relax, laugh, enjoy the old wood floors/bar area and the cozy surroundings.
You definately need reservations here as the tables go quickly. The menu is posted outside on a chalk board, so you're already hungry before you go inside. Both times we've eaten there, the food has been outstanding. Both times had a different lamb dish & a fish dish. Lots of flavor. One of our favorite places to eat in Florence.
This place has atmosphere and wonderful pacific northwest style dishes. Every time I've been in the food was exceptionally good. If you don't like seafood, can't handle small spaces with lots of people, or have a tight budget (it adds up -- drinks, appetizer, main course), pick another place to dine. To escape the crowd and spend less, try lunch on a weekday.
