My wife and I married at El Portal in October of 2003 just after they opened. It was a magic weekend. We have returned many times and have had the same wonderful gifts of peace each time. Each room is done in a different fashion but all in early 1900's ranch life. All but one room has it's own hot tub. They no longer serve dinner as of 2009, but breakfast is great. Steve and Connie take care of guests like family. El Portal may cost a bit more but the location, care, and energy have always been worth it to us. We have stayed all over the world; from Tents in Nepal to Castles in France, and palaces in Peru. El Portal is a special place; and they love pets. Steve owned a pet company for many years. They made sure to have a number of rooms ready for your buddy.
Absolutely Fabulous! It was delicious, romantic, friendly, warm, & everything we could have expected. A client of mine highly recommended staying at El Portal but we had already booked a condo so decided to have dinner there. Can not say enough about this place & how delicious it was. Can't wait to go back & will recommend them to everyone we know
Although the hotel wasn't in a bad spot, we thought it was way over priced for what we received. No coffee pots in the rooms which was upsetting. The hotel didn't have a pool or hot top which I would have loved after our long walks and trail hikes.
We enjoyed El Portal so much, we came back a second time (in 9 months!)The entire staff makes us welcome. Steve has great recommendations for hiking, and Lynda can offer information regarding areas of local interest as well. Sylvia, one of the cleaning assistants is always very pleasant and did a great job with our room! Chef Eden created fabulous breakfasts and we also enjoyed dinner very much at El Portal. I just had to write you to thank you so much for an extrordinary stay at your lovely inn. It was our first time to Sedona, and the intimacy of your rooms and along with the warmth of your staff made our visit to Sedona very special. To say that we liked our room (#7, I think it was called The Grand Canyon) would be a huge understatement. It was simply beautiful. The view from our private patio was fantastic and my wife loved the adjacent garden to our patio. She
Rooms have stone floors! Try walking on stones in your bare feet. No coffee pot in the rooms! Overpriced and bad food! Our room had a small patio outside and the room had bugs coming in all the time. Not recommended for handicapped guests.
They advertise as a B&B but to get breakfast you pay! A lot!
The food was really bad and we went out for our meals after the first meal at El Portal.
Not even a half star hotel!
Disliked the stone floors in the rooms.
Disliked the food!
Disliked the prices of the rooms.
El Portal is the only place we would stay in Sedona! The rooms are beautiful, unique, comfortable and private with great attention to detail. Breakfasts are amazing and in the evening there's appetizers and fresh baked cookies waiting for you.
Everyone is very friendly and helpful,we would recommend taking one of Benny's tours.
El Portal is a little pricey but it really is worth it, also if you check out their website they offer specials and packages.
