Salsa's is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Not only the food is very good but the staff is very friendly!!! Everytime I go I try different meal and everytime it is better than the last. Atmosphere is classy and relaxing; none of the overused and stereotyped Mexican adornments :) Salsa's is a must try!!
I was here with my family a few weeks ago and I was not impressed with the food or staff. When my wife and I go out to dinner its usually mexican so we have the palate for good mexican cusine. We went on a whim to Salsa's because we were in the downtown area shopping. When we walked inside we were not greeted with a smile. I was told to take a seat and someone will be right with you but minutes passed and no one stopped to take our order. Much to our surprise we were the only patrons in the restuarant and I found that to be a bit odd. Usually when a restaurant is empty there is reason for concern. We attepted to get the attention of a waiter but they were to busy smoking outside. After coming back in they were handling silverware without even washing their hands. At this point we got up and walked out. If the waiters are this way how are the cooks?? Will never go back.
My son lives in Dubuque now & he & his girl friend love Salsa's. They talk about it alot & tell us they go there about twice aweek sometimes. So this weekend we went to visit him & he took us to Salsa's for supper. This is the BEST Mexican resturant I've ever been too! We absolutely LOVED it!!
The staff there are GREAT & very very nice! Our waiter sat & visited with us. They wanted to meet us since they knew our son. I would reccomend Salsa's to anyone visiting the Dubuque area.

Was in town for business and had to find dinner on my own one night. Asked some locals for the best Mexican in town, they directed me to Salsa's. I was not disappointed. Reasonably priced, prompt and friendly service, in a nice old tavern space with some character, and the food was above average authentic Mexican. I would definitely return.
My boyfriend and I have been eating at Salsa's since June 2005 before they even renovated. It's our favorite restaurant ever, we ate there like 2-3 days a week before I moved away. I'm moving back soon and you best bet that's the first thing I eat when I get into town. the owners are great, they take time to come over to our table and talk to us, and the food is just perfect. One TINY detail: it is truly very authentic mexican, so if you are looking for americanized food, go to taco bell cause this is straight up the real thing. And it helps if you point to what you're ordering on the menu... alot of their wait staff is authentic too haha. Don't leave dubuque without eating at salsa's. It's the best!! I'd give 10 stars if i could.
