This quintessential Irish bar is so authentic, you'll think you've walked into a Dublin pub. Loyal customers swear this pub is the best outside the mother country. The fare is Irish pub with a good mix of homegrown New York style. Items include hand-sliced roast beef on a kimmelweck roll, and the Gaelic steak, broiled, then sauteed in an Irish Whiskey cream sauce.
The atmosphere is cozy in the dining room....super fun in the bar!! The food is excellent my personal favorite being the Shepherds Pie.....with the baked fish augratin a very close second. The entertainment is always enjoyable and the proprietor of this fine establishment is a true champion for the preservation of Irish culture in America...don't miss the opportunity to visit the Shannon Pub in Tonawanda.
Last month, my husband and I visit Buffalo-Niagara Falls and Ontario, Canada. He is a buffolonian and knows about good Buffalo's food. Always we are looking for a restaurant with good beef on weck. We have tried several places, some not worth the visit, because the poor quality of the sandwich.
This time, among the restaurants we visited was the Shannon Pub. The atmosphere is nice, good service. Their beef on weck is delicius. When we ask for Au jus to dip the sandwich our request was accomplish by the waitress. I can't wait to go back again.
Can't say enough good about the Shannon Pub! The waitresses are very good - friendly, attentive and fast.
The food was outstanding - we've tried both the Irish fare and the American. Everything we've tried is great, but we highly recommend the fish fry and the Shepherd's pie. The salt potatoes are too good for words! Everything is made on site except for their desserts. That takes nothing from the desserts as they are also delicious.
Go when they have live music - always Irish! It can be crowded, but its worth the trip.
They have a great bar too.
