Well on day 1 I got off work and picked up the Family at my mom's. We drove to the rental yard in Hayward and picked up the 32' Nap Wagon (more on this later). We got on the road at 12:45pm and were Eastbound and down. We headed south to Bakersfield on I-5, then east on 58 to I-15. We took on fuel in Barstow (46 Gals) and kept headin' east. We got to Baker and turned North on 127 and started up to Death Valley. First I had to get a tasty Gyros at The Mad Greek, Mmmm. We arrived after dark and stayed in a lodge just outside the park. The next day we left the lodge early and drove into the park. The sights were more breathtaking than we could have hoped. We saw the valley (El Capitan, Half Dome, etc...) ate some lunch, checked out the visitors center and then headed to Tolumne Meadows (also beautiful!). We drove through and then to Las Vegas (passing Mono Lake) We drove on a REALLY abandonded desert highway. We stopped for a quick hike, but it didn't last long with the heat and 6000 foot altitude. Vegas was quick. Just spent the night and I did a little gamb...
