Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (Man Fat Sze), Hong Kong

Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery was hand-built by a devout Buddhist layman, Yuet Kai, who constructed an elaborate temple containing nearly 13,000 statues of Buddha. Yuet Kai carried buildings materials personally from the foot of the mountain, together with his disciples, to build the monastery. Yuet Kai's preserved body is enshrined in a glass case in the main hall. Construction took 18 years, and parts of the monastery - The Main Temple and the Pagoda - are being considered for recognition as national monuments.
