Rancho Grande (el)
This cozy and pleasant Mexican restaurant is popular with locals. The service is fast and friendly, and the affordable fare is quite fresh and tasty. It is known for the homemade tamales and green chilly made here. Patrons looking for a delicious filling meal might also try the steak fajitas or chile verde burritos. This restuarant is an excellent value, Beer and wine are available with meals; patrons can choose to dine in or take-out.
We've been a few times and have enjoyed it. It's really not AUTHENTIC Mexican food. My husband ordered the carnitas and what he got was basically pork fajitas. They were good...but definitely NOT carnitas. My husband is half Mexican and has super high expectations for his mexican food, but once we just accepted that it's not the down-and-dirty mexican we usually look for, we couldn't deny that the food still tasted really good. The restaurant was clean and the prices are reasonable. Great kid's menu too, if you have picky eaters, like mine. Try not to be a food snob and you may actually enjoy yourself.
The service was friendly and efficient and the food wasn't terrible, it just wasn't delicious. This is a good place if you like bland American tasting Mexican food. The food was fresh and served hot, the restaurant clean. There were certainly most tables filled, but no waiting on a Friday night is a good thing when you have hungry kids. The kids loved the American food they ordered. If I am going out to eat, I prefer Mexican food be more authentic. But if your preference is American Mexican, this is a decent place.
After reading the only review on El Rancho Grande, I just had to see for myself how horrible this place actually could be. A friend and I, walked in with every intention to leave at the first sign of bad service/food. We were seated immedietley and ours soft drinks came within minutes. We ordered the Fajita's A La Carte steak/chicken combo to see how tough the either meat would come out.
THEY WERE DELICIOUS!!!!!
Their food was really good and the staff was very nice and prompt. This just proves that you really can have a good or a bad experience anywhere at any time.
I SAY GO AND TRY THEM OUT TODAY!! When we were paying we realized that it was the owner taking our money. We complimented on the Fajita's and he recomended the Chicken Acapulco for our next visit.
4 stars from us!!!!
Oh and on Thursday night's they have a Meriachi walking around playing all sorts of mexican and country music. Check it out.
New to the area we were still looking for a good Mexican restaurant. We came in at 7:00 on a Saturday night. There was no wait this should have been our first sign to run. We waited at our table 10 minutes before we were given water... then another 10 before the waitress came and took our order. THere were only two other tables seated so I do not know why we could not get service. My husband ordered the carnitas and I ordered the fajitas. our boys had Tacos. The Carnitas was so tough my husband had to cut it into infantile bites just to eat it, and My fajitas had a little bit of steak..3 pepper slices and a sprinkle of grilled onions no sour cream, no guacamole. The meat again was very tough. The kids said the tacos were ok, but not a one of us finished even 1/2 our order. we then waited another 1/2 hour before the waitress came by so we could get the check and 10 minutes before we got it. In all honesty they should fire the lot and start a new, because that would be the only way I would ever pass through those doors again.
