We researched this restaurant before going to Nebraska. We are from Kansas City and have one Tapas restaurant here and love it. Well this was absolutly great! The Tapas are very good and the Sangria was a treat. Thanks also to our mesero Juan was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend it.

Espana Fan

Having lived in Spain for a couple of years, the food served at Espana satisfy my cravings for tapas quite well. Can't say enough about the gambas ajillo or the the manchenga cheese. Delish. My only recommendation - ask your server if you could space out your orders. When you are dining with up to 4 people, the rate the food comes to the table does not overwhelm you. However, if you go with 5 or more, and you order your food all at once, it comes all at once and you do not have the opportunity to savor the dishes.

A number of friends said that I should try this place. My wife and I were in the area early one evening, so stopped in. We didn't have reservations, but there weren't any customers. At that time of day reservations usually aren't required anyway. Absolutely no one in the place and we were rudely told that since we didn't have reservations we needed to wait before we could be seated; I guess this was to punish us for not making reservations. About 15 minutes later we were seated at the worst table in the place (the one all the help had to pass to get to the bar in the middle of the restaurant). The person seating us was extremely rude and informed us that we couldn't order a number of items on the menu since we didn't have reservations. Apparently, one must be rude to be employed by Espana. Finally, after being bumped up against by employees walking by for another 15 minutes, my wife and I looked at one another and said let's leave. Fortunately we didn't spend any money, but we did waste 30 minutes of our lives; a steep price to pay for being treated rudely. I complained to the friends who told me to try the place.

Espana

We love this tapas restaurant and bar. The food is authentic Spanish tapas and everything we've ordered has been amazing. The sangria is wonderful too. We also love the woman who comes around with the interesting wine bottle that you drink by holding away from your mouth. It's a great way to spend an evening!

Why is there a picture of The Diner instead of Espana?

Good food but be careful. Ordered the paella special of the night... and in the words of "Top Chef" judge Tom Colicchio... "this isn't a paella, it's a rice pilaf". The traditional crispy, caramelized, toasted bottom was nowhere to be found. The paella was also oversalted.. which I pointed out to my waitress as she cleared my 3/4 full plate. To my surprise, my nice 20-something server stated "all spanish food is real salty!" Imagine my surprise... I only been eating spanish food for twenty years and I didn't know that. Tapas were generally good. Carpaccio Bistec (#16)was another oversalted dish. Calamares a la Romana (#35) was your standard fried calamri. Sea scallops with serrano ham (#38) were excellent. Sangria was excellent, definitely order by the pitcher as we did. Ambiance was excellent. Service was good but it was a slow night. Pricey... dinner for two-$73 not including tip. I will keep going if for nothing but the ambiance and the sangria. Was a slow night (only 3-4 tables) so I can hope that I just didn't get the chef's "A" game.

Atmosphere and great eats!

Espana is a taste of the most awesome cuisine in the style of Spain, that Omaha has to offer. The paella is amazing. I have a picky 3 year old and we were able to feed him off of the tapas menu and he was happy as a fat cat, too. Try the SANGRIA, but buy it by the pitcher...because when you drink one glass i gty youll want more. :)

Great Place, check it out with someone special
By Timothy, 10/2/06
http://www.espanatapasbar.com/ If you are looking for a fun filled restaurant with great food, you have come to the right place. España is a fantastic place for a special occasion or for a special date. It has a fun feel to the atmosphere, and often they have flamenco dancers Friday, and Saturday around 7:00. Most of the items are reasonable price but it’s a piece together meal and can add up fast…I tend to spend a minimum of $70 for two people.
