Rancho Grande Mexican Seafood, Napa

I ate here late in the evening on 12/25/08. I had rice, beans, enchiladas, and tacos (no seafood). Within 2 hours, I had nausea, vomiting and diarrhea lasting many hours (food poisoning). I will never return, and am reporting them to the health dept.

I tried it for the first time today and I never plan on returning. I am not a picky or demanding person, but I don't remember when was the last time I felt so angry at the service I received. First of all, the waitress did not offer us anything to drink right away, so while we decided what we were going to order, and then wait for the waitress to make it back to our table I was craving a drink of water. Secondly, the food was not that great. My daughter had enchiladas and I had a wet burrito. Both had the same kind of sauce which resembled mole and tasted a bit like mole. I wonder if this is the same sauce they use for mole? The salsa is not spicy enough. Being Mexican myself, I was quite dissatisfied with this. The very worst part though was waiting at the table for 15 minutes after we were done eating hoping that the waitress would return to the table so that I could ask her for a to go box and for the check. From afar, I noticed she glanced in our direction and she had to have noticed that I was just sitting there done with my meal and waiting for her. She never made it back to my table. As I saw the other waitress rush past me I quickly requested the box I needed, but she never came back either. She made a trip around the restaurant and picked up somebody else's food. My waitress handed another pair of customer's their check. They had arrived later than we did. I finally went up to the register to pay. My waitress asked me to wait a minute while she ran to the back for one more thing I guess. At this point it was hard for anyone to not notice how disappointed I was. Please, don't ever eat at this restaurant. It's a family-owned business that apparently tries to save money by keeping a very busy restaurant understaffed with unprofessional waitresses. There is a sign in spanish on either wall of the restaurant stating that if you the customer yells for any reason you will be refused service. I guess this should be taken as a sign to the kind of service you will be getting. Service that will make you want to scream. They must already know this. I do not want to give Rancho Grande any stars. It was just an awful experience. Talk about an unprofessional atmosphere.

I really loved this place and recommended it, back in the day when it was just opening. In 3 of the 5 times I've been there in the past year I noticed that the service, food, and cleanliness have been going south (no pun intended). I've usually been to the restaurant on times that there weren't so many people. Therefore, I really must say that there should be no excuse for slow service, messed up orders, and dirty tables. I'm not even going to comment on the bathrooms, blargh... More positive notes they have live music, and fresh hand made tortillas on weekends.
