Mac Nivens Restaurant, Indianapolis

Crowded, noisy, many many kinds of beer, good food, not enough servers. My credit card was overcharged. My card company texts me each time my card is used, and so I knew (before I got out the door) that MacNivens had charged me several dollars more than I authorized. I looked at the receipt they gave me, and it didn t have the card number, authorization code, date/time, etc. I ask for the customer copy of the charge receipt which shows the amount, card/auth/xact numbers, etc. They could not/would not produce it, and told me to leave. When my card statement came, I challenged the charge, and the card company got a copy of the receipt I signed at MacNivens for me. The signature was not my name and not in my handwriting. There is a theft where, when no tip is charged on the card, that a tip is added anyway and pocketed by the staff (in addition to the cash tip left on the table.) This is the only explanation I can make of the overcharge. I d have given 4 stars if they had put the right amount on my card, one off for the glacial service.

great place to eat or hang out. vegetarian menu is excellent! friendly staff. it was nice going into a bar and not walking through a cloud of smoke. prices on food are about the same as applebees or chilis. parking on weekends is free so the 2 block walk to the restaurant was fun. the wife was drunk so the 2 block walk back to the jeep wasnt as much fun. try the veggie haggis!

I went to Macniven's and had a good burger with neeps that were great,but i was very disappointed with my beers. The bottled beers I selected were pricey and tasted stale. I don't know if they have a storage issue or were not kept cold enough. But I know they should have tasted better. I will not be returning to Macniven's.
