Famous Dave's, Rockford

Great service for sure but you can't eat great service. Unfortunately the food is lackluster at best. I had the chopped pork sandwich and for almost 9 dollars I got dry pork with way too much fat on a hard, dry bun and mac-n-cheese that tasted like it was mixed with mayonnaise or something like that. It did not really taste like mac-n-cheese but it was extra creamy and the added corn and jalapeno were a nice touch. And the bun, really hard and dry like it had been sitting out all day long was totally unappetizing. The portion of meat was large but for 8+ dollars I would expect a large sandwich. As far as their barbeque sauce, it is all too sugary, even the hottest one. And it is served in squeeze bottles at your table so it does not get any of that nice, smoky caramelized flavor it would get if it was actually cooked onto the meat. The chips they serve before the meal are a nice touch and give you a chance to test all the sauces. The sauces in the bottles do not exactly match the sauce served on the wings though. The wings were quite a bit hotter than the hottest sauce on the table. This comes from overcooking and concentrating the sauce. Even though I ate the test sauce, I could not eat the wings as they were too hot. Like I said, the service was great, fast, friendly and polite but the food was not good at all and not inexpensive either. We will not go back.

THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sweet water catfish, brisket and chicken...wonderful. Best service ever. Best food ever. Worth every penny. Don't forget the sweet tea!!!!

Awesome place! This is one place where the customer service will overshadow the food! And the food is gooooood! My wife and I are moving to Rockford and the friendliness in the Famous Dave's was one of the places that sold me on Rockford. Thank you Famous Dave's. I will be back!

Can't say one negative thing about Famous Dave's. I travel alot and this is one place I will eat at no matter what city I'm in. It's always exceptional. My recommendation is to order your ribs naked (if you're getting ribs) and choose your own sauce to use, they have 6 different choices on each table.

The food is wonderful, the service is very friendly and you get so much food for a great price! They have a large selection and so far everything I've tried I've enjoyed. It's better to eat in than to take it home, but that's just my opinion. The ribs are awesome, and the have a variety of sides to choose from. I think it's too cute that they have rolls of paper towels at each table and give you wet naps... you're definately going to need them! Oh! They also have a variety of bbq sauces at each table to try... from sweet to fiery hot! Give this place a try... you won't be disappointed.

The rib tips are the best! For under $9.00 you get sooo much food! Everything.. the rib tips, honey-butter muffin, wilber beans, corn on the cob, and even the coleslaw makes you feel like you're at a family picnic! EVERYTHING is soooo good.

I love ribs and I have never been to a better place for ribs than Famous Daves. The BBQ sauce is to die for and I love their sweet corn muffins. If that wasn't enough they have some of the best chili. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was excellent. The wait can be long (60min) at times but you can call ahead and if you ask me the wait is worth it.

Wonderful Southern style barbecues w/ coleslaw (they call it Memphis style.) Excellent Margaritas....and scrumptuous 'to die for' bread pudding. We were pleasantly surprised when we decided to dine outside on the patio there was live music playing (Tuesday, June 20th.) The wait staff made for a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely make this one of our stopping places on Tuesday evenings this summer.
