my friend introduced me to sushi years ago and we find it fun to check out the local fare. After only one visit they knew my name right off. We have followed the Izumi owners from the far end of windsor locks to the main side of windsor locks. We've tried a few other places and we just keep coming back here. The sushi and sushimi and its the freshest and best around. The portions are fulfilling and the chat with the owners is fun. I would recommend giving this restaurant a second and third try if your not sure on the first try. These folks are great!
Well at least the best in Mass. Reasonably priced compared with other places. You can also be sure the fish will be freash. Sushi Ocean is the only sushi I will eat because the fish isnt freash other restaraunts. It is very clean there, and you wont find dirt anywhere. If you like sushi, go to sushi ocean.
If you like Sushi and are in Windsor Locks stop by Sushi Ocean on Main St. They have the freshest sushi, they will make you custom rolls made to order and did I mention they make a mean Scorpion Bowl? It will knock you on your ass (if your into that kind of thing!) Anyway, Sushi Ocean is the best place for the best and freshest Sushi around! Tell them Yvonne sent you!!
This restaurant is truly my favorite Japanese restaurant. Although it may not be as ornate (or expensive) as some of the other Japanese restaurants in Connecticut, Sushi Ocean is really an undiscovered gem. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable, and they have the freshest fish I've yet tasted at any sushi bar in Connecticut.
I think the true problem with Sushi Ocean is the location. Because it is somewhat offset from Bradley International Airport, I think many have not chanced the drive or have not even heard of its relatively recent opening. The selections for dinner are limited compared to some of the larger restaurants in Connecticut, but the quality of the dishes offered is truly exquisite. For lunch, they have very unique offerings and a surprising variety at a highly reasonable price.
The decor of the restaurant helps to counter the small size of Sushi Ocean, with somewhat standard fans, paintings of Japanese landscapes, and bamboo. It most certainly does not feel cramped or crowded in the least.
In short, this is an excellent local sushi bar with friendly service, a warm atmosphere, and magnificent food. It is definitely worth a trip to visit.
