Ho hum!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/09
Very beautiful outside but very disappointing! Nothing much there but a few rundown looking places to eat. So much more could be done there

Not Worth It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/08
Visit: September 11-14 2008 First, let me say that we did not visit EVERY place of interest in Jacksonville while we were there so our review is limited to the places that we did go to. However, we did spend four days there going to some of the places highlighted (Beaches, Downtown, Riverside, San Marco) in travel sites and books and it was just not worth it. The city itself is unattractive, bordering on dirty. The highways are a nightmare - not just with the construction issues that seem to be going on EVERYWHERE but they seem disorderly and not well thought out. The downtown area was especially dirty and filled with crumbling buildings and one PARKING DISASTER after another. The beach was pretty enough, but there are other places with prettier beaches and much better cities to back it up. If you are looking to vacation in that area and you are on a budget I would skip Jacksonville and focus on Amelia Island (North of Jax) and Saint Augustine (South of Jax). Both cities have beautiful Beaches and interesting cities to visit between dips in the water.

Wish it would have lasted longer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/07
I had the most romantic birthday ever with my boyfriend at the Riverwalk. We walked around the boats and since he is a local he pointed out all the historical buildings across the river to me like the Modis building and old hotels that are now apartments complexes. We sat under the bridge and drank wine while listening to the river. It was so great!! Even though the relationship didnt last the memory did!!!

Sharing memories
By Kellye N, 07/04/07
I grew up in Jacksonville. As a kid I loved coming to the riverwalk in the evenings. I especially loved the huge water fountain and my parents letting me walk on the ledges at the water. Now living in Tennessee, my children see pictures of the fountain and the restaurants and shops and think it is a huge deal. I am finally bringing them there this July and can only hope it is still as beautiful as I imagined. Last time I was there they had the fountain drained though. I liked the memorial tribute statue they have for the service men. I loved having my picture made with it.

Perfect first date nite.
By bev h, 04/26/07
Being from Jacksonville, but not living there now I remember when the River Walk openned, and hanging out our heads out of the SWD building. (Of course I was a babe in arms and not Michael Jackson's kid) Christmas shopping was wonderful, as Hooters and the river boats that took you from Crawdaddy's and back. The museum is a must, especially if you have kids and it's still there. But alas, hold on to your purses and wallets folks... 20 years have passed, but I still give the walk a 4 star!

Over Rated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
This experience is okay, nothing to brag about. If you were not from the area, there is no need to break your neck by trying to get here. It's just okay; don't get me wrong it's a decent attraction, just over rated.

Eats & Sights the best...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/05
We walked around at evening... was very nice and river boats were running ( be sure to use restroom B 4 you use boats as they will not let you use them once on boats ) so we took several trips back & forth. We went to Boat Club Resturaunt for dinner, had handsome and freindly waiter named Mike...made our day with all info he gave us...And the hostess was so gracious....Food Excellent also. Would go again.
