Tree Hill Nature Center
This beautiful, 50-acre nature preserve, Tree Hill Nature Center, provides outdoor fun for families and recreation-seekers. Located in the middle of the Arlington suburb in Jacksonville, the Center is serious about educating the community on native Florida habitats and wildlife. Numerous nature trails, gardens and exhibits focus on conservation and awareness. There is even a specially designed butterfly garden full of plants and flowers known to attract the colorful creatures. Special events are held year-round.
Great place for a hike in the city. Information center has a lot of interesting stuff. Fun for adults and kids. The center has owl, chickens, baby gator, butterfly garden and goats. Lots of picnic tables. No food is sold there. Definately have parking lot there. It's 2011, not 2008 anymore. (see the other reviewer's comment below)
I took my child to the Harvest Moon festival last weekend expecting some innocent family fun. Advertised was a petting zoo (vampire goats), hay rides, bobbing for apples, pumpkin pie,a haunted trail, an acoustic open mic, a cheese tasting,a chili bar, and a costume contest. Unfortunately there was nothing but a crock pot of chili, and an all too short haunted trail (three "rooms"). No one there knew what was going on. When I found the woman in charge she was aloof and unapologetic. My child was so disapointed there were tears. I will never waste my time or my money there again. In a perfect world they will pave over that dump and build a walmart!
Very nice place to visit with the family. My daughter had a blast. And to to person complaining about the parking...get over yourself and get off your lazy butt and think of the short walk as exercise...we can all use it.
Why have events at a park that provides no parking for its patrons. The food served was expensive and not very well flavored. While I agree of the Tree Hill concept to preserve nature. They must realize that people use cars and have to park them somewhere and not 2 miles down the road in a church parking lot.
