Operating since 1972, this Jacksonville jeweler offers complete sales and repair service. The staff that will be happy to help you design custom pieces or select a design you like from intriguing molds or computer-generated designs. Cases here are filled with wedding bands, engagement rings, earrings, gold, precious stones, silver and platinum pieces, and high-end watches. Interestingly, it accepts trade-ins and offers a range of estate and consignment jewelry as well. Espling has another location on San Jose Boulevard in the Mandarin Outback Plaza.
I am a regular customer and Jeff Canaday at the San Jose branch never ceases to amaze me with the quality merchandise and unbelieveable prices. When I am tempted to haggle, I feel like I am stealing as you can not find better value for your jewelery dollar.
I have been using them for everything in addition to jewelery including: watches, all item repairs and appraisals. My most significant purchase was my wife's engaugement ring many years ago (1999). I wanted something different, actually, my wife did. A Diamond VSI-1 (he showed me the difference in ratings), over 1 carat, and two trillion cut Emeralds equalling a half carat each all set in a solid Platinum setting and ring.
He did not have the exact setting I was after in stock or in a catalog, but created a mold and built the darn thing right to my wife's every wish. I won't state the price, but I challenge you to shop around and find a better deal with the same level of service, along with the integrity for which Mr. Canaday, the Espling's and all the associates manage the store and I feel comfortable with any of them assisting me (I am certain all branches are managed well, as the Espling's take personal interest and assist in day to day activities). When I sink $$ into an investment of this nature, rest assured I checked ALL other options.
Mr. Canaday prevented me from getting a less quality larger stone that was obvious when he showed me the two side-by-side. Women compare them all the time, especially when they 1st get them, something I did not know. It is quite a ritual.
Apparently, in this contest, the one who keeps her ring hand up the longest to be admired (must have consistent, positive feedback from the competitor and/or other female "judges" that are in on the conversation) is the winner. The loser, to avoid the inevitable, also has the option of bowing out by mentioning husband's/fiance's name that purchased the superior ring, stating he did a good job which ends the game and hands may drop simultaneously to avoid embarrassment.
Usually, hands typically drop quickly to end comparison, even if they have larger stones as side by side, good luck finding a better one with the naked eye. Espling's makes me look like a hero as NOBODY has a better quality stone for the price and it is a one of a kind custom build.
Engaugement rings signify a soon to be forever committment and you will fair much better if you get this part right or forever may be a very long time!
Also, he has budget items for like b-days and such, so if I am going to spend $50 or so up to the 4 carat total weight of diamonds and 8 carat emeralds total weight platinum tennis bracelet my wife will eventually get, I exclusively deal with the Espling's to get my money's worth.
It is so easy to get taken for a ride in this industry but Espling's Jewelers is truly committed to quality, cutomer service and value for your jewelery needs. A rarity these days. I know I might sound like a commercial, but I promise you, everything I said is true and I am not related to anyone there nor do I have any stake in their business.
Bottomline: you may find it cheaper, but it won't be the same quality; you may find better quality than they have in-stock on rare occasions(which they can easily match by ordering for you quickly), but you will pay through the nose at other stores. Do your homework and see!
