Angelo's Italian Restaurant
A local favorite for more than 25 years, this taste of the Old Country offers fresh, homemade Italian food at low prices. Angelo's is a quaint, family-style place in a charming building with striped awning-covered windows and friendly servers dressed in black tie. The atmosphere is casual. Plates are piled high with traditional Italian specialties that include ziti Sorrentino or Siciliano, lasagna, cheese-stuffed manicotti, and hearty spaghetti with spicy meat sauce. An intriguing fresh tortellini and tri-colored ravioli is featured, along with daily specials. There is a full bar.
Fantastic italian, cant tell it has changed ownership over the years-been going after GA-FL game since 1970's. Consistent quality, menu has variety, location easy to find. Garlic bread rolls stuffed with pepperoni and cheese are worth driving for. Clean place, too.
My husband and I have been to Angelo's many times. We have taken family and friends to dinner there as well and they always enjoy the food and the people who work there. We also recommend it to everyone we know. If you love Italian, you need to go there. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The De Angelo salad has to be the best salad you've ever eaten. Try it I know you will love it as much as we do.
The salads, pasta, and pizza were true Italian cuisine with a down home flair. Since we had a big party we tried almost everything and were very grateful that there is a good Italian restaurant in JAX. A most enjoyable meal that I would recommend this restaurant to others.
I was excited when I drove by and saw the sign that said they delivered (we order take out a lot). I wanted a small cheese pizza (they only had large and XL). So I asked how much the lg would be - $10, I thought a little pricey, but ok. Then I asked for a Chicken Caesar salad, and how much it would be and the young lady said $6, I thought great.
In about 30 minutes the delivery guy shows up. I looked at the receipt and noticed I was charged $24. I called and spoke with the manager, explaining that I was expecting $16 +tax. He asked me what I ordered, I told him, and he said $10 for the pizza and $11 for the salad and a $2 delivery charge fee. I told him at no point did anyone mention a delivery charge and explained that the young lady told me the salad would be $6, and he apologized, and sorry its $11. I explained that no one charges $11 for a chicken Caesar salad, and he said they did. He told me in order to get my money back, that he would send the driver back to pick up the salad.
I have to say, I have never heard of such a thing. Im the customer, the price was misquoted and he was rude. I cant tell you how the pizza tasted (I didnt eat it). The salad was horrible. The piece of chicken was very very thin, dried out. The lettuce was wilted; it looked like a pile of half cooked spinach.
While I never expected the new Angelos to be half as good as the old one, Im very disappointed that another new restaurant has opened in Arlington that I worry will not make it. Course, its just a customers opinion.
Went to Angelo's last week for lunch and was impressed with the speediness of service and also the food! I was in and out in an hour and that was with an appetizer and lunch entree.
I really enjoyed and highly recommend the fetticini alfredo which had a slight pesto sauce around the edges which was very unique and different from other alfredo sauces. Also, the pasta tasted homemade and fresh. It was delicious.
I want to try their pizza, though, next time perhaps!
Their dinner menu is even larger then their lunch menu, but I was impressed with the amount of choices on the lunch menu.
The garlic bread is to die for!
Visited the 'new' Angelo's last night and loved it! I highly recommend the house salad with roasted cauliflour, french green beans, spring greens, and a wonderful vinaigrette. The garlic bread is served in small pieces, simple but good. Can't remember the name of the pizza we ordered...but it was New York style, chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms, with the most remarkable buffalo mozzarella. It was wonderful! Can't wait to go back with friends and try the Penne with Vodka sauce!
My favorite thing about Angelo's before it closed and then re-opened was the pizza. I have heard the new Angelo's pizza isn't like before. Does anyone know where I can find an original Angelo's (or Patties) Pizza??
Angelo's is re-opening on November 3rd! This was a great, family-owned restaurant in Jacksonville, and has been sorely missed. We will see if it returns with the same quality menu and service that made it a favorite for us.
