Lover's Key State Recreation Area

Lovers Key is not for those who want a lot of amenities and conveniences. It's really for those who want to go to a more natural and undeveloped beach. It was not crowded when we went there in late August, but we weren't alone either. The shore and water line is hard to walk on because of the shells - definitely bring water shoes (though I can practically guarantee that you will get little bits of shell in them as well). The water is warm and fairly clean (but definitely greenish rather than blue), and we saw wild dolphins not too far out from the beach. We enjoyed our visit.

the scenery meets the hype you read and also see on tv. only descrepincy I noticed is that the travel channel said it's a remote place that couples can go for seclusion. this isn't true. not sure if this place has been advertised too much, but there are many more people here than expected. worst part is the number of children. don't go here expecting the quiet couple time advertised. I had to walk quite a distance on the beach to get away from the noise.

THIS IS A PERSERVED PRIVATE PIECE OF PRISTINE BEACHES AND SCENERY. YOU CAN RENT BIKES OR KAYAKS. SECLUDED BEACHES. ON WED THEY HAD A SHELL LADY AND SHE HAD CLASSES FREE. THIS WAS A HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP. MY HUSBAND IS IN A WHEELCHAIR AND HE WAS ABLE TO GO DOWN FAIRLY CLOSE TO THE BEACH.

loved the primitive quality that is preserved here....no commercial development.. beautiful beach and gulf waters.... hope the state of Fl continues to save and protect the beauty of the natural coast and beach areas....
