J.C. Cruises offers a variety of tours on the scenic Caloosahatchee River. The 600-passenger paddlewheel boat called Capt. J.P. offers lunch and dinner cruises. On Wednesday and Friday, a four-hour buffet cruise sails to the Gulf, leaving at 11am. After an all-you-can-eat lunch, enjoy dancing or sunbathing. There are also sightseeing cruises on an 80-passenger boat. Reservations are required for all cruises. The boats sail from the Fort Myers Yacht Basin, at the foot of Hendry Street
Have called to book a trip for a group of 25 passengers over the last year. Every time i call the boat is never sailing and the rude office staff is no help. They wont even take a reservation, they say they wont have enough to go. Several other people in my community have had the same problem. Good luck getting a boat ride on JC Cruises. We called the Naples Princess and booked our group with them. No problem took our reservation and had a great time.
We loved the trip, lots to see along the river. We went on the trip towards the gulf of Mexico. Saw lots of dolpins, birds and wildlife. The live narration by the Capt. was very nice he pionted out many things and gave us lots of info and history on Ft. Myers and the waterway. The buffet lunch was great, employees very friendly, boat very clean and comfortable, lots of room to get up and move around. We love the open 3rd deck for sightseeing. They also had music for dancing on the return trip back. The price of the trip is a great deal. We recommend this trip to everyone. We loved it so much we also took the cruise up thru the locks. That was very nice also. We saw manatees locking thru the locks with us.Very interesting to watch. Saw and learned alot of new thing about the okeechobee waterway. We will be taking some of the other trips they offer when we have family in town.
Buffet was good (chicken, beef, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, bread). We did not like: 1) smokers on the open deck; 2) crowded tables (like flying coach!); 3) assigned table seating (why?); 4) no air conditioning for half of the cruise (UNFORGIVABLE IN JUNE IN FLORIDA); 5) water was the only free drink available (ice and iced tea available only part of the cruise!); 6) constant reminders for tips; 7) high price of cash bar ($1 for a soft drink). There was a wedding onboard, so we were forced to "attend the wedding." The live entertainment wasn't half bad, if you wanted to converse, you were out of luck because it was LOUD. Glad we took the shortest tour!
great sightseeing cruise lots of things to see. food was good, and service from the crew was excellent. we have group of over 75 people that cruise with the capt. J.P. yearly from our mobile home park. we have enjoyed ever trip we have taken.
my husband and i have been aboard the Capt. J.P. many times. we always take our visiting guests aboard also. we love the cruises. the food is great, the trips are lovely, the crew and capt.are always wonderful, and the ship is always clean. Can't wait to sail with you again.
A HAPPY CUSTOMER
I couldn't talk my wife into going for the first 6 or 7 years that we were down here for the winter. She fineally went out one day for the gulf trip, then the very next day She had to go out again on the lock trip.
The trip was GREAT,ATMOSPHERE WAS EXCELLENT, FOOD WAS TERRIFIC! A MUST DO!!!
Now everytime we go to Ft Myers she has to go by the Big Boat to see when it's scheduled to sail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been on JC Cruises about half a dozen times, Lake Ochechobee, river, locks, daytime and night trips. We really enjoy the sights. Joe(the captain)narrates beautifully. You get to see a lot that you wouldn't normally see by car.
The food is always GREAT. The crew is wonderful. We have always had a great time and would recommend this trip to anyone. Young and old alike.

The Lake Okeechobee trip was a disaster. You should not cram this many people on this size boat and this boat should have never set sail with out the ladies restrooms in working condition. The restrooms on the lower deck were completely out of commission and the other two potties only flushed part of the time. Ten hours of misery. We were afraid to eat or drink for fear of having to go into the ladies room again. The only part of the cruise worth viewing came during the dinner hour and after dark. We had a group of over 30 people from the Sanibel/Periwinkle RV park on this cruise and not a single person attending would sign up for another cruise...ever.
IT IS A VERY PRETTY TOWN AND LOTS OF FRIENDLY PEOPLE
THE PEOPLE ON THE BOAT ARE REALLY GREAT.
THE FAMILY WHO RUNS IT ARE VERY HELPFUL AND THE RIDE DOWN THE RIVER IS ABSOLUTELY CALM AND PEACEFUL.
JOE,IS A REALLY GOOD CAPTAIN AND ALL THE CREW MEMBERS AND VERY NICE
