Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium
The Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium combines nature with education. The 105-acre site contains a museum, aviary, winding nature trails, a gift shop, and meeting and picnic areas. The museum has information on Florida's history, especially the Calusa Indians who ruled southwest Florida for nearly 1,000 years. There are daily animal shows, snake feedings, and aviary tours. Admission to the Center is $4 for adults, $2.50 for kids under 12. Admission to the Planetarium is $3 for adults, $2 for kids under 12. Check the schedule for Planetarium show times.

First off the website does portray any true facts at all. its says it c0st $4 bucks for adults and really its $9 and $6 for kids 3 and up. We drove all the way from jacksonville Florida and its was a bust. It rained the animals looked sick and were trying to hide. the map they gave us said the all the trail but one were closed . it also said it had a broadwalk which it turns out was still being built while we were there. the butterfly exibit had all of 3 in it and they were the same. it was a complete waste of time and money. i would not recommend to anyone ever. The wesite maybe it seem like it was better the going to a zoo and it was farely cheap untli you get there and see all the lies. good luck if you do go i hope you have a better time then we did. oh yea by the way the snake cage with the underwear in it was very dissappointing. you guys should do a better job cleaning the tanks out before the kids see it.
I would recommend the Calusa Nature center to all who like animals and the great outdoors. The walking trails are very nice. You can get a family pass for a year for about $40, not bad for all of the extra activities that they have throughout the year.
I thought this was a great place! Small but filled with lots to do; nature trails, animal shows where you get to see and touch them up close, planetarium shows, a butterfly aviary, and they take care of animals that cannot take care of themselves. It only costs 8$ for adults and you can easily spend 1/2 day or more.
If you like boredom then this is the place for you. Its a below avg. nature trail and all the normal animals you can see at a petco big deal. Except they have 1 alligator 1 bob cat and about 6 big birds. Never will go there again. If you want to see a real one go to jungle garden in sarasota fl. 1000 times beter and only 1hr away.
