What a terrific way to treat your family to nature's bounty and all the fun this park has to offier! There's so much to do- you can rent a surrey, rent a bike, rent a boat, rent a shelter for the day, walk on beautifully kept trails, ride a small train, have fun at the kid's water park, have fun with the kids on the well-designed playgrounds, have a picnic or sit and do nothing at all. Oh yes- there's an ice cream shop too! We are so fortunate to live close by and have access to such a lovely park at such a reasonable cost.
We live close by and we love picnicing at the Park. Where else can you go for the relaxation and beautiful areas the park has to offer. It has something for everyone. Picnic tables, bike rides, trails, boating, fishing, kiddie pool. And the people are wonderful. When company comes calling, we take a picnic basket and have fun. So what if it costs $1.00/hr. it's fun and relaxing...just go and enjoy!!! Now they have the farmers market on Friday mornings...what more could you ask for???
My husband & I took a walk through the park for the first time in Feb. 09 and thought it was a beautiful park with great paths and lots of scenery. The playground areas looked terrific for kids and I'll be taking my grandkids there next time they're here. For only $1/hr to park, it was a bargain. The only thing we would have liked to have had was a map of the park so we knew where to go and what all was there.
Lakes Regional Park was a great surprise when we first visited a few years ago. It's very cheap ($1 an hour to park!), well maintained, and has lots of interesting plant and animal life to observe. The trails for running/walking are paved and very well maintained. It makes for a very nice respite in the middle of a city that otherwise is one giant strip mall.
Lakes like all Regional Parks in Lee County only charge a small parking fee, I believe it is $1 per hour or $5 for the ENTIRE day, what a deal!! They have also recently updated all of thier parking machines to except Credit Cards. You can also purchase a Annual Pass good for All Regional Parks and most of the boat ramps for $50, so I am not sure why the other comment had such a rough time :) Oh Well, A truly great park, and that the friendly staff works extra hard at keeping it nice for all,
Lakes park is a great place to take the family. They have bicycles for more than one person for rent. They also have a free water/sprinkler park for the kids. There is a small train that even adults can ride.
Lakes park is great for the family.
The kids love the play ground, train ride and water park.
The adults love sitting on the bench under a tree watching the kids have a great time,or going on a nice relaxing walk.
we never mis a chance to do a birthday part at the park, nothing like a bar-b-q.
we love Lakes park and you will to!!!!
One member complained about the money. Could it possibly be that we're paying to clean up all the mess that people make. Like anything, I wish it could be free but honestly I know deep down why we have to pay. Who wants a trashy park? I've been to the park. Great atmosphere...great place to take the kids...a great peaceful relaxing area. One of the top parks in Southwest FL.
