Hog Heaven Open Flame BBQ
It all started in May of 2000 when Ron Rosenthal, with a love for southern cooking and a few extra bucks in his pocket, opened a small 16-seat Hog Heaven restaurant on Front Ave. in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Initial response was so strong that Ron was forced to offer carryout and delivery, requiring him at times to personally deliver meals on his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. Within the first year, the Front Ave. location was expanded to seat 40 indoors and 12 outdoors. There was still not enough space for the customers in search of Ron's southern BBQ. In July of 2001 he opened another Hog Heaven restaurant in neighboring Dover, Ohio. This restaurant & bar accommodated 80 customers indoors, providing cold beer and great southern BBQ meals. With good friends, live music, cold beverages, and a vacation atmosphere the Dover location was expanded to seat another 80 people outdoors. The outdoor dining area created an atmosphere as if you were somewhere in the Florida Keys. With motorcycle runs, live entertainment, great food and a vacation atmosphere the tempo was set for the Hog Heaven restaurants to come.
Met the cook Steve , great guy and he cooked my ribs perfectly best I had in my life, and I have had a lot of ribs ! Good location fair prices good atmosphere. Get the ribs ask for Steve you won t be disappointed !
Carry out NOT RECOMMENDED! Called in our order, she said 30-45 minutes due to how busy they were so we gave them 55 mints and ended up waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes!! THEY FORGOT A SIDE DISH AND GOT OUR HAMBURGER WRONG!!
One of our favorite restaurants in the Canton area for a resonably priced meal. Their wings and ribs are excellent and thier pulled pork are BBQ sauce are top notch! We love thier beer-city french fries too. 2 can get a good meal for $25 to $30 bucks easy (before Alcohol).
The Canton location is the WORST place to eat in Canton! I have never waited so long to be seated (We were the ONLY ones in line, with only 5 tables occupied), long waits to give our drink order, long wait for the check and heaven forbid you need anything while you are eating! If you want to eat at Hog Heaven, make the trip to Dover or New Phiily, where they actually CARE about their customers, as the Canton location seems to take theirs for granted!
The first two visits to this restaurant were superb. This afternoon however, was a dismal one. For starter, we ordered their famous nachos. We were craving for a crispy crackling nachos but what we got was an opposite one. We tried calling the server hoping that she would replace it but instead asked us if we want a new one. The server should have the initiative of giving us a new order of nachos instead of letting us choose.
Thanks that the ribs are succulent and the chicken's skin is perfectly crispy
Great food and atmosphere, but very poor service. We were one of maybe 5 groups in the restaurant and we were treated like we were one of 100 and they were short staffed. Poor service is due to our server and may not be restaurant wide.
