I their new location on 390. Not a good experience. The food for both my girlfriend and me was tepid at best, not hot. My girlfriend's shrimp fettuccine was almost dry, very little sauce, not creamy at all. My German knockwurst was covered with a carpet of cold very hard cheese. The knockwurst had been cut in half lengthwise and was no longer knockwurst and the entire plate was tepid as was my order of hot German potato salad. Not hot! It was as though the entire order had sat on the serving counter for some time before being served.
The ambiance was quite nice, the high backed booths gave a feeling of some privacy. However the light over the table was positioned to give maximum glare. One had to shield their eyes to read the menu. I saw other people shielding their eyes as well. If the light were lower and lower wattage it would be better. Or raising it higher would also be better..
I think the restaurant shows promise, but my experience was not goodn.
My daughter & I were in The Cheese Barn today for lunch. We go there several times a month & are always impressed with the food & staff....that is, until today. We got our checks and I put down $20 to pay. The waitress broght change back & I thought it was 2 ones, so left them on the table. (I am 76 yrs. old so I mess up sometimes!) Anyway, when I realized what I had done, I called The Cheese Barn to see what could be done & was told there was no way they could check what I was telling them. The waitress said she just stuck the money in her pocket without looking. I was just sick as $11 was entirely too much a tip for a chicken sandwich. I hope the waitress enjoys spending my money as I am on Medicare only so it's a treat for me to go out to eat.
Thanks for listening.
