Barbados Museum & Historical Society
Description
The Barbados Museum and Historical Society was established in 1933, and is located in a 19th-century building which was formerly the British Military Prison. The museum displays artefacts of the early Amerindians and china, glass and silver from Barbados' African, European and Caribbean heritage. Also included are furnishings from an 18th Century plantation house, a collection of rare maps, in addition to prints and paintings depicting Barbadian life. The Kidd Gallery is specially designed for children. A library, museum shop and cafe complete the tour.
