Guaranteed catch, decent price for fresh trout
By Lynn, 7/5/12
We have taken our kids and grandkids here for the last 30 years. I love watching the kids catch fish. Let them do everything themselves and you will laugh your butt off. Baiting the hook is the only thing they might have trouble with but if you show them once they will usually learn quickly. Your catch will run about $5 per pound of cleaned, fresh trout, about what you'd pay at the store. It is a great family acitivity.

Definitely a must for young children.
By Teri, 7/8/09
It was great for a first time fisher, the kids loved it. I wouldn't go if you are looking for a great fishing challenge though. The prices were good, and the fish tasted great.

horrible experience
By Val, 6/17/09
Me and my friends went there in hopes to get some fish for dinner. We got there and talked to the owners. Owners were not friendly at all. When she gave us a piece of pipe and said that we have to wack the fish behind its eyes we started to hesitate because noone wanted to do this. Owner said that we have to kill the fish, she didnt even say that she could've done this for us. Her attitude was awful and she showed that she basically doesn't care about customers. We ended up not fishing. I recommend to look for other places to go fishing because this one was just horrbile.

Our boys had the most fun!
By Karen, 7/28/08
My husband and I took our 5 and 7 year old boys to the Tahoe Trout Farm for their first fishing trip. I (mom) was a bit grossed out because I don't fish, but the boys had the time of their lives. My 7 year old caught his first fish and my 5 year old scooped them up in the net (even for the other families). The most fun they had was bonking the fish on the head to kill them, which again I thought was gross. But, they loved it. I highly recommend it, even for the mom who doesn't fish at all. It is worth it just to see how much fun your kids will have. =) In case you are on the fence -- go! You will have a blast.

Good Fishing BUT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE :(
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/08
The two older women who run this farm were less than hospitable. I brought eight kids to fish and ended up leaving early because I was scolded for parking my car on the grass (which it was not!), scolded for asking if the fish that were just caught could be put on ice (the fish were not really biting and I didn't want the fish to sit in the dry bucket and be ruined) the lady at the shack told very rudely that the fish that are caught will stay in the bucket as long as it takes us to finish fishing! and this was in front of some other customers! Two of my kids were yelled at because they were fishing in an area that was off limits but was not posted as being off limits! Needless to say, we spent about 30 minutes trying to catch fish and after and during the scoldings, I called it quits. This farm does not deserve my business. I ended up paying $22 for two trouts, which would have been fine if the customer service was there.

Guarantee Catch
By CY, 6/14/08
If your kid is relentless about going fishing or you want to see a level of excitement rarely seen in your kid, then take to a trout farm for a guaranteed catch. My son love it!!! Early in season the fish are small, but by mid to late july the fish are 12 to 18" long, But by late August the remaining fish are ~24" and really hungry.

Great for kids
By Michael, 5/29/07
After the 9-year old got over crying because we killed the fish (she thought we were catching pets), she had such a great time. At the end she was yelling for the fish to DIE! DIE! while clubbing her fish. Not a place for sport fishing, but if you want your kids to be guaranteed to catch a big rainbow trout this is the place!

Kids love it!!!!
By Wolf Sister, 4/10/07
Our son, when he was really little, loved this place!! You could see the fish as well as catch them!! It was a really fun experience for him. The people working there are pretty laid back and willing to answer the myriad of questions that a kid has about the whole workings of the place. He is 20 years old now and still remembers the fun he had there.

We wish we'd never gone!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/06
Not real fishing - poles have no reels, they just want you to net the fish as soon as you catch them. Our two little girls did not think it was very fun to stand around with swarms of wasps while watching their dad hit a fish on the head when he'd only spend about twenty seconds catching it. Next time we'll bring our own gear and do some real fishing! This is probably my girls' worst memory of our Lake Tahoe trip and they may not fish again any time soon.
