Great Place, Helpful Staff
By Doug H, 03/30/08
We went to Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area in late March, 2008. As novice XC'ers, we really appreciated the help the staff provided. The trails were well-groomed and in great shape. The kids (aged 13 and 10) are hooked. The views are spectacular, and though it was a windy day, we made it around the Spooner Lake trail without much trouble. There was a nice spot for a quick picnic out of the wind and in the sun. It was a wonderful outing.

Been skiing here for 30 years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/06
There is nothing to dislike. It's perfect for traditional and/or skate skiing with a network of wide interesting ski trails.Forested beauty in the winter is unbeatable. When winds are high one can ski in the wooded areas. Normal winds allow long gradual downhill runs in open spaces. Many challenges/spectacular views exist for moderately skilled and advance skiers. This is , in my opinion the best cross country skiing at Tahoe, and it's right at the top of route 50, a few miles from Carson City.
